Hi K1 sg filers,

Got some questions regards to COC, on the application form,

the section 19: Country for which COC is to be submitted? Should I write United States of America or Singapore (embassy is here)?

Section 20: Date of Departure? I am not purchasing air tickets until I am approved after the whole process, can I leave it blank?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Hi Roy&Chanel,

If you're applying for US visa, then the Country for which the COC is to be submitted will be for the United States.

Yes you can leave that blank, if I recall correctly as I didn't purchase my ticket as well until the visa was in hand.

Hey guys! Just went to send out my packet 3 today. Went to police department in cantonment to do my COC. The officer asked for only one passport sized photograph instead of two. After submitting the application (dont forget a copy of your biometric passport page and a copy of the embassy letter to request for COC too) and paying by nets, I went ahead for the fingerprints scan and was told that I will be getting a notice through sms when the COC is ready.

After, I went to the Standard Chartered bank to make my visa application fees payment, was told at Bedok branch that they do not accept US visa fees payment and told me to head to either Marine Parade or Tampines Branch since I live in the East. Went to Tampines to make the payment, the bank only accepts CASH payment, mailed out the confirmation page DS160, checklist, page 3 form, payment receipt (Blue receipt) and I took a snapshot of the receipt too and kept the customer copy. I used registered mail because I want to track in case of missing post but do note that registered mail takes 2-3 working days whereas normal mail only takes a day.

Called the Dr Horne's office for medical appointment next week, (you need to explain that you're arranging appointment for US fiance/fiancee visa) was told to come in 30 minutes before appt time, prepare 4 passport sized photos, bring along the embassy medical requirement letter, passport, and medical records. There will be a blood test (no fasting required), urine test, x-ray and vaccines. That's all about it for now! I will update further next week! If anyone of you are going through the same process, try to call the doctor in the morning for appointment because the line is always busy in the late afternoon!

Its a suggestion, why not go to any travel clinic (TTSH, for example) to do the necessary shots etc? Its cheaper than Dr Horne's.

Hi Veepaisal, thanks for the suggestion, saves cost alot, about the medical vaccinations, do we do all shots at a go? Or do we have to do the shots on a few trips? I think I will have to drop by TTSH tomorrow for vaccines. Is there any documents I need to bring or obtain from the TTSH Travel clinic? Thanks alot for your help!

You just need to bring the document that states what vaccines you need, your vaccine history (if you're local, you should have a blue booklet with all your vaccines in the past since a kid)

TTSH (and all the other travel clinics) will provide you a yellow immunization booklet for you to keep with the vaccines you've taken and any that are still in need to go (for those with more than 1 dose requirement)

As for if you'd be getting all shots in one go, I'd say technically yes. I had 3 shots that I required all done in 1 day (both arms). But for the shots that needs more than 1 dosage, you'd need to return in a couple weeks to a month's time to take the second dosage, etc.

HTH!

Hi Vee! Just did my vaccinations today. Some of my vaccines were not recorded in the health booklet was told by the nurse in TTSH that during those early years the vaccine records were not clear either. Even my MMR records are unclear in it. I have to go back twice, I did 3 injections today (tetarus, influenza, booster since its too long ago), and I don't have records of chicken pox (varicella), Hep B (3 doses), MMR, Poli. I'm missing these right now. Did a blood test there to see if I have the immunity, I hope I still do because the nurse told me that for Hep B you're supposed to take a dose first, and 6months later for 2nd and a year after for the 3rd which I am concerned about. Will have to wait for 2 days for the results. In case if I do not have immunity, I wonder if I can take the other 2 doses in US instead. I wonder if I need to do another blood test with Dr Horne's? I hope I don't need to, not a fan of needles. The nurse had troubles finding my vessels, had to take from the other side of palm for me, this usually happens to me in any clinics/hospitals.

As for Xray guess we have to do it at the clinic? Urine test I have to wait too since i'm having the "days" of the month right now.

I paid a total of 215sgd for 3 injections and blood test for hep B and chicken pox

Just side track alittle, to all of you here, may I know how did you guys bring funds over to US? I don't really want to use TT because of the currency rates and the cable and transaction fees that will be charge on both SG and US banks. I'm thinking of bringing cash and declare. I've heard that if we bring alot of cash and bank in, the bank in US might not accept? Is that true? I'm looking to bank in and create a Chase bank account.

Hey Roy&Chanel!

Yes, for the 2nd and 3rd dose, you can take it in US but I was told vaccines here are pricey so you might wanna consider getting it there if you can, otherwise hopefully your insurance will cover it when you're here.

No, with the vaccinations in your booklet now, just provide it to the nurse and she will not give you any further test (except blood test) but schedule your apptmt with Dr. Horne's at least a week later if you can cos you'd need to go back to TTSH for the results (and if needed, the shots required).

I have the same issue with the vessels. I had my wisdom teeth extraction (3 in total) just a month back and I had to be anestisized. I was so pissed at the dentist cos I had told him I have issues with getting pricked on my arm & the easiest was the back of my palm - and no he didn't listen. I ended up with my left arm all bruised up for weeks cos of the prodding.

Yes, X-Ray and urine test all will be done at Dr. Horne's, along with weight, height, blood test & physical.

I brought in some cash but I still have my SG bank cards. For me personally, if I needed huge amounts of cash, I'll just do a transfer to my family's bank account and ask them to do a WU transfer (cheaper in a way; def much more affordable than bank-to-bank TT)

What you can do is check with Chase on what sort of bank account(s) you need, then slowly deposit the money in.. to prevent them questioning? Cos Chase Bank's basic checking account is a min of USD 25 to open but you need to maintain USD 1500/day balance or an average of USD 5000/month balance to not pay their monthly service fee. Their basic savings account is USD25 to open and maintain min daily balance of USD300 or have at least one repeating automatic transfer of $25 or more from your personal Chase checking each month to not pay their monthly service fee

It's up to you how you wanna bring cash in, but if you wanna avoid the TT fee, check with the bank you're with and compare the price with WU to see which one works better for you for the amount you intend to bring over.

Thanks! Yeah I'm excited to get this show on the road already haha. Yup they want it unsealed! The COC office will hand both your certificate and an envelope to you. I assumed I was supposed to place the certificate in the envelope, I was wrong there. Congrats on getting to the next step!, viraj1303

Heya, I didnt receive my coc with an unsealed envelope when I collected it today. I asked the officer if it comes with an unsealed envelope but he told me not that he is aware of. Are there some changes or did I read wrong?

The officer will probably give you an envelope to keep the CoC in (if he didn't, just ask for one). But you're not to seal it in an envelope before you submit it to the embassy.

I asked for one, he said there isn't any and I asked if I can get one and he said no cos they do not practice giving envelopes. That is weird..I got my COC without envelope, just the COC itself. The officer is actually the same guy who I applied for COC too. Maybe they made some changes due to too many ppl sealing it? Not sure..but since I have gotten only COC and he doesnt give me one, I will just explain to the embassy.
