Hey liznaj7 - my package is currently at the NVC and is waiting to be shipped to Singapore. I notice on your timeline in your sig that you had your medical very soon after you received the Packet 3. Did you schedule the appt prior to receiving the actual packet or is it relatively quick to get an appointment? Also did you do anything else while waiting for the package to be sent from NVC to Singapore to make a quicker turnaround time to submit Packet 3? Thanks and good luck for the interview! I think I am about a month behind you in the process so will be eager to hear about your experience :)

Just got packet 3 this week! Here's what it contained:

1. Cover note from Immigrant Visa Branch

2. Visa instructions attachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 1.jpgattachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 2.jpg

3. Form I have to sign saying I have all the documents on the checklist attachicon.gifVisa Instructions for Singapore Embassy pg 3.jpg

4. Instructions for I-134

5. I-134

6. Letter for medical

7. Letter for Certificate of Clearance

We spent an hour completing DS-160 today and printed the confirmation page with the barcode. I'll be paying the S$312 fee at Standard Chartered Upper Thomson tomorrow over lunch and sending off the forms and receipt at the end of the day. I'm hoping for an interview date in mid-December. Fingers crossed!

Hi! Good luck, it should be reaching the embassy shortly :)

I called the clinic first thing after I received packet 3 and asked for the next available appointment. My guess is that an appointment can be made very quickly. I would advise waiting for packet 3 as you'll need to show the clinic your letter stating the need for a medical.

As for turnaround, I'm quite anxious by nature... so prior to receiving packet 3, I referred to kittythekat's previous post (above) showing what packet 3 contains to make sure my fiance and I had everything we needed. My fiance got to work filling up the I-134 right after we got our NOA2, you can print it out from the uscis website here - http://www.uscis.gov/i-134

, so there's no need to wait for the copy attached with packet 3. Honestly, this wasn't exactly necessary as you'll only need the completed I-134 at the interview, but like I said, I'm just anxious by nature.

The only things that needed to be done urgently after we received packet 3 was filling DS-160, scheduling the medical, applying for police COC and paying the visa fee. All of which do not take a long time. I sent packet 3 back immediately after that and got my fiance to mail me our NOA2 and I-134. My interview is on March 4, so I still have time to collect the evidence needed for our relationship. We frontloaded our I-129F very heavily with evidence, so it's more a matter of updating what we've already presented.

Hope that's helped!

Just had my interview this morning :) It went well, short and sweet. CO said he doesn't see any problems with our case and I should get my passport back in a week! The only thing that wasn't in order was my COC, I had placed it in the sealed envelope given to me by the COC office... apparently I'm not supposed to do that as the embassy has to send all sealed documents to another department to open and check. CO said this will add a couple of working days to the waiting time, but everything should be fine :) Relieved to be done with the interview.

Thanks! Yeah I'm excited to get this show on the road already haha. Yup they want it unsealed! The COC office will hand both your certificate and an envelope to you. I assumed I was supposed to place the certificate in the envelope, I was wrong there. Congrats on getting to the next step!, viraj1303

Approved! Really really happy.
Question for those who have already gone through this -- I'm planning on applying for Advanced Parole at the same time as AOS. Is AP to be used only for emergency situations? E.g If I leave the country on AP to attend my sister's graduation, will I be questioned upon return because it's not an emergency?

no, AP is not just for emergency travel. it can be used in situations like you described. don't forget to also apply for EAD if you are planning on working. even if you are not, it can come in useful in other ways, e.g. many states will let you get a drivers license with an EAD.

congrats on your approval!

Hello!

I received packet 3 today and I have a few questions:

1) Do I really need the blue receipt for the interview because I forgot to take the photocopy. I want to send the packet 3 ASAP. I have clicked the receipt's photograph though.

2) What is this checklist exactly? Is it page 1 and page 2 where they have written what all documents might apply to me? Do I need to check anything there?

3) Do I need to enter the MRV number available on receipt at https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/now or later? When exactly do we update the payment section there? I suppose it is done if I wish to select appointment date of my choice but Singapore does not offer that privilege.

Thanks

hi whitetiger

1) the blue receipt (i presume its the receipt for payment of the visa) is supposed to be sent back to them along with the check list signed and dated.

2) yes, thats the checklist - it shows you what needs to be provided when you go for the interview.

3) I created a profile on that site after I had received the interview date, at the same time I entered the MRV number in as well. I suppose you could do it before your interview or even before an interview is scheduled. You will however need to re-log in to select delivery mode for your passport after your interview.

HTH!

Good luck!
