Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding one of the civil documents that I may have to send after the DS-260 online form. Do I need to send the birth certificate of the petitioner too as she is a permanent resident of United States and we have filed for Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents(F2A) category? I am making this query because this requirement is not mentioned in the travel.state.gov website for my case. While I called the NVC on why is it taking a lot of time to review my documents, after a series of confusing conversations the operator told be that they are waiting for the birth certificate from the petitioner. Kindly help me clear my confusion in this matter.

Thanks,

With best regards,

Kumud

We sent a photocopy of my husband's (petitioner) BC together with the affidavit of support (AOS) package because his joint sponsor is his dad. To show proof of relationship between petitioner and joint sponsor, he sent his BC.

Maybe that's the same with you? If not, you can just mail it in. Make sure it has English translations (if the BC is in foreign language).

Is it a must to attached the BC even if the AOS is a household?

Hi apple21,

Thanks for the reply. My wife's father is a household member and we used his income source as well while submitting the AOS. She had sent the relation verification certificate that she fetched from the concerned authority(from the country of origin) and had submitted the photocopy of that along with the AOS documents. In addition to it, she also sent the copy of her driving licence and that of her father so as to prove the address of residence is the same. It is over 30 business days that we have submitted all documents and still we haven's heard anything from them. That's why we are kinda anxious rolleyes.gif .

My lawyers told me to send the original to NVC i.e. Mine the petitioner, regardless of AOS status.

Hi all and for those who may come across this thread,

I confirmed with NVC and they say that it was just a misinterpretation from NVC and I dont need to submit the birth certificate of the petitioner as my civil document.

Thanks for your replies!

Regards,
Kumud
