Hello.

I am currently working with a company that helped file all the paper work for my fiances VISA and up to this point they have answered all my questions satisfactorily .

Now we are getting ready for the interview and I am putting together my financial documents. Here is my issue. I am and have been a full time student for 3 years and almost 4. I had my GI Bill and grants which totaled about 22k a year for living expenses and the gi bill paid my tuition. None of this is taxable income so I was advised by a financial adviser, who does my parents taxes, I did not need to file. I just started working in July. My Job puts me above the income requirement and my GI bill monthly allowance plus grant refunds puts me well over.

The problem is that I have not filed taxes in three years. I have a co-sponsor if I need one but we are at the interview stage now. So, do I need to fill out separate documents for them? I have their tax returns for the last 3 years and employment verification. How do I add them as a co-sponsor. Or do I even need to? I am really confused at this point and I would like to avoid paying an immigration lawyer a few 100 dollars just to get this answered. My fiance is Russian. We met while I studied abroad.

Have your co-sponsored fill up I-134 too and have them sign it. You have to fill up I-134 too and provide what you can. If the CO asked for co-sponsor then at least you have one in hand rather than getting a paper requesting for co sponsor.

Hope that helped otherwise other VJ-er may enlighten you.

If you just started a job you can get a letter from your employer giving the details of your employment (full time, earnings, etc). Add to the letter your recent pay stubs. Current income is more important than past earnings, which is what your tax returns would show.
