Well my fiance got her japanese police certificate to address her inital 221g denial, got a second interview and completed it on the morning of the 13th. They didn't ask her any additional questions, just took her certificate, passport and money and that's it. The girl was very courteous and said that later that day or the next they would review the paperwork and make a decision, then sending her passport with or without a visa to her (a 10 day delivery). She said that they would contact her by phone as soon as there was a decision. We waited until the end of the next day and still had no answer. I called in and they said that it must still be under review because there was nothing on file with a result. Is this a temporary delay? It seems like everyone else gets instant approval/denial information. I have of course heard of the dreaded "Administrative Review" process that I've seen some middle eastern applicants get that can last several months. I hope this isn't the same kind of problem. Is this normally a short delay or should I be prepared for the long haul? Should I be calling in regularly to get some answer or try to stay out of there way? It looks like the hopes of a christmas together to meet my family are all but destroyed. Why is this process so frustrating and painful?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Well. It's been almost a week and two phone calls since the second interview. At the first one they said that they'd get back to me. Today they actually asked if my fiance had attended her interview. I had to explain the situation and they said that there is nothing they could do over the phone and that I had to write an email and they would respond in writing. Sounds like another week down the drain waiting for a response. What is going on?? Is there something I should be doing? I am absolutely heartbroken that Christmas is already just about out of the question. Has anyone had any other similar experiences at the Kiev embassy? This is my worst nightmare come true. What should I do???

It's finally over! I called again today at the risk of calling too often. I was told that they would look into it immediately and that they have received my email from yesterday. It's the nicest I've been treated by them ever. A girl I talked to said she would do her best to get back to me tomorrow because she had to locate my file (maybe temporarily misplaced?). Well she actually got back to me today. SUCCESS! The visa was granted!!! It's been an emotional road but I'm happy to say that it's over. It's just too bad it's entirely to late for Christmas. Maybe for New Years dependent on when we get the actual paperwork. The websight says 24-48 hours, but the person on the phone last week said 10 days. I sure hope the websight is right and it will not be held up due to the holidays. I guess we'll see. Thanks everyone on here for all your help.

I wish everyone luck with their applications and happy holidays.

Sincerely,

Mark
