Hello dears,

I'm so glad to join this forum at the right time, I'm in need of help trying to find out if it is me who is expected to set the schedule date for my fiance visa interview. the reason i'm asking this is that, it has been 3 months now since USCIS approved our case. we got a message from NVC explaining our case is sent to US embassy in Addis Ababa and gave us the assigned number for our case. We sent an email to the US embassy here around mid September but there is no response. when i call on the phone, they say we don't provide any information on the phone so use email. i sent two emails until now and waiting to hear from them. on October 30 while i was browsing through the USA embassy for Addis Ababa, i found out they changed their system and i have to fill the DS-160 form online and i did as i read on the website but then i could not be sure whether i have to wait from the embassy to contact me or i'm expected to schedule the interview date by myself (if i have to, i don't know how or can't see any link on the website to let me schedule it). if you pass through this situation or heard the experience, your help will be greatly appreciated :)

Welcome to the forums! I'm transferring your thread into the Embassy/Consulate forum, because you're at that stage. You'll probably get a better chance for advice there, too. Good luck during your process.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

i don't really know about the new changes but when i did the interview, i couldn't get anything from the embassy so my finace called NVC and the told him the interview date. so i went to the embassy and ask for the paper. i only had two weeks left for my interview by the time i got it. you need to call the NVC or go to the USA embassy in ethiopia and ask them for your appoitment letter ASAP.

I went to the embassy in person today and they told me i'm scheduled for January 30, 2014! they said i missed the first schedule they sent me few months ago so they sent another schedule. i didn't got it through my postal mail though. this can be lesson for those of you waiting to be scheduled for the interview. if your waiting time gets longer go and inquire in person.

Im wondering if it is possible to ask the embassy to make the interview date near. Anyone who did this?

well i think its a good thing you get another interview date. did they give you the interview paper? if they did they will give you an attachment with the list of forms you need to fill out to take to the interview. i don't know if they will change your interview date or not but i think you should go and ask them just to be sure. and you also need the interview appointment paper to do medical.
