Hey all it's been over one year filing our papers. My fiance has applied the k1 papers since Aug 20,2012. My file was sent to Cairo embassy since June 6,2013 and they sent me packet 3. I had my medical exam done and prepared and sent all the required documents since June 18,2013. Till now (18 weeks later) they didn't send packet 4 though it is mentioned in the papers that if my documents are complete l'll receive a letter schedualing my interview date within 6 weeks.

Last week I received an email from the consular section asking for the DHL tracking number!!

When I sent it they replied that they acknowledge receiving my letter!!

I know other cases who had their papers processed just like ours but their appointment was during the period of the 6 weeks mentioned in the embassy's papers.

My question is: is this normal??? To wait for over 4 months just for an interview appointment??? Also dose their asking about the DHL tracking number means they lost my medical exam and the other documents I sent??

Regarding waiting period , that's normal . I started the k1 visa application in september 2012 & the embassy in cairo recieved the case in june 17 2013,since then ,i'm waiting for my interview to be scheduled.

Secondly, i don't think they lost your docs ,who knows may be it's a good sign that they are working in your case.good luck

my thoughts to you is to take a new medical exam to the interview coz the one you 've sent will be expired soon . It happened with one of my friends and his case delayed for that reason.

Thanks Georgewashington for ur help

Is it possible to have a new medical exam without a letter from them??

No George they haven't and they replied in an email that it is not scheduled yet and that they have the authority to extend the validity period of our petition.. Looks like i'm gonna wait for a long time :( This is soon frustrating

Have they scheduled yours??

Hi, you did not mention if you had an attorney representing you or not- if not, find a compassionate and caring attorney who is responisive when ever you have questions and who will make sure your case does not fall through the cracks- all too frequently, a case gets "lost", I also suggest you establish communications with your congressman or senator regarding your case- they are helpful in seeing that cases are not otherwise rediculously delayed, and keep alloo of yoru correspondence and emails, maintain records and a paper trail so to speak.

i also strted submitting viseos on CNN ireports tracking what was happening with my husband's visa case.

i hope this helps. God Bless You!
