Hi All, I filled my I-130 + I-485 (I-131 and I-765) on 10/15. I got 4 NoAs on 10/21, however, I have not received an invitation to biometrics yet... And my I-485 is still under "acceptance", all other forms are under "initial review". Any idea, why does it take so much time to receive an invitation for biometrics?? My file is at the National Benefits Center.

Also, I would like to go to Europe for Christmas and leave around Dec. 16. Do you think I should be hopeful to receive my AP before this date?

Probably not.

Nope, expect 90 days for AP. If your NOA1 is dates 10/21 it has only been about a week. In 3 more weeks if you haven't heard anything about biometrics then, call USCIS.

AOS for my husband

So no hope to have my AP before Dec. 16? If I decided to leave anyway, can I submit my application for AP abroad? I read that this might be a bit tricky, so I am not sure if anybody was in a similar situation.

If you leave before AP is approved and in your hand then your departure from the US will formally abandon your AOS and you will lose your money and be stuck outside the country.

AP cannot be given abroad. Don't confuse it with a reentry permit.

O_o re-entry permit?? I am about to google it!!! I am really desperate to find a way to be for Christmas with my family overseas. Do you have any insights to share with me re: this re-entry permit? I would be soooooo grateful!!!

If you want your application for AOS to continue, you have absolutely no way of leaving the US without having you EAD or your Green Card in your hand. What Harpa said is, don't confuse the combo card with a reentry permit just because form 131 is used for both; a reentry permit is NOT something that will help you with this, it's a different thing.

On a separate note, people have received the EAD earlier than 90 days, I got it in about 75 for example, others even earlier. So if it works for you financially, you can think of getting a ticket, mostly if you get a flexible one. But don't get your hopes too high.
