Federal prosecutor will look into Kendrick Johnson case

Macon, Georgia (CNN) -- Nearly 10 months after their son died, the parents of Kendrick Johnson are finally getting what they've been asking for: another investigation into the teen's mysterious death in the gym of Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia.

Michael Moore, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, said Thursday that federal authorities will investigate the circumstances behind the death of Johnson, whose bloody body was found inside a rolled-up gym mat on January 11.

I would like to see where this would is going. Been keeping tabs on it since the story broke.

How sad and unfortunate!! All citizens should have the right to a proper investigation if something happens to them. And how did the first coroner miss a blow to the back of the neck? I am sure that would not be hard to see in an examination. Then they kept his organs and stuffed his body with newspapers! What kind of sick coroners and people are we talking about here. What did they do, sell his organs? I want to know where the kids organs are. This is just creepy.

if he was after a shoe (like how did his shoe get in there to begin with?) he could have just unrolled the mat to get it. no one is going to wiggle into a space like that, knowing they can't get back out. and suffocation? complete bs - both ends of the mat are open.

The whole thing says cover up to me. Either he was murdered, or an accident that looks like one.

Pretty sad huh. All people should be treated equal. If law enforcement cant keep their personal prejudices away from their job then they should not be in law enforcement.

The media never gets it quite correct. The mats were Vertical and stored behind bleachers, bunched together. The theory was that in trying to retrieve the shoe he fell head first into the mats and became wedged upside down. Wrestling mats are very heavy. It was not a case of crawling into a mat laying horizontal on the floor, as pictured by his family, who has secured TM's. attorney.

The case was investigated locally and by the GBI and the state crime lab, who all reached the same conclusion..CNN left that also.

Now. Having presented some other facts in the case, I agree with the judge's decision to let's take a second look at this. Certainly the second autopsy raises some doubt, however if anyone is thinking this was some race motivated murder and was covered up by a bunch of south Georgia redneck's i think you are going to be disappointed.. Could it reveal sloppy police work and possible foul play ? Maybe. My gut tells me no

Actually The State investigated and did the autopsy.

And the Justice dept said it had no evidence to warrant a civil rights investigation

I think he fell head first and was wedged.

Still I agree it is worth a second look, but i doubt much well change. GBI and Justice dept has already looked at it. I could be wrong

The kid had his internal organs removed and replaced with newspaper. Is that common?

No one said racially motivated. However we are fully aware that black people's lives are not valued equally. They didnt investigate properly on purpose because they feel they have a would have been thug off of the streets.
