hi everyone,

my interviews at the consulate in Naples will be on the 13th of November. I wanted to know how long will i wait before they give me the visa (upon approval). I read somewhere on this website that they give it to you the same day. somewhere else i read it will be given the day after which is the same thing the NVC told me.

someplace else i read they will send it by mail...which version should i believe? i would really like to know when i will be able to go back to my wife and daughter.

thanks everyone

My husband had his interview this past July in Naples and he picked up his visa the day after his interview. They will give you the paper with the directions on where to pick it up (not too far from the consulate)

Good luck on your interview!

hey jessica_white, with the ds230 it is required to send the marriage certificate, the police certificate of ALL countries the applicant has lived for over 12 months, birth certificate of the applicant with the translations for the documents. online you can read that all the documents that are not in english or the language of the country where the embassy is must be translated. i did it just to be sure! you know better safe than sorry. if you or the applicant are in italy at the moment to obtain translations is quite easy. expensive but easy. you can translate the documents by yuorself and take them to court where a person there will make you swear that the translations are accurate to the original document and that is it. they will tell you what you have to do to pay, but on average it is 16 euros for every page. told you it was expensive. but literally it took me 1 day to have the translations since i got the documents. all this i sent along with the cover letter that they will give you. now i do not remember if it's the NVC that gives you this letter or USCIS.. however you will get an email. with it. i also did make copies of all the documents i sent. and sent them in the same package, you never know.. i sent also copies of my passport. again two copies, and i sent 2 photos passport size. they do not require copies of the documents, but i sent them anyway. again better safe than sorry. i did separate the copies from the originals in plastic folders and labeled them.. you never know :)

i hope i helped!

good luck!

To the original post (Gabe86):

You should be able to pick up the visa, which will be in the passport, at the end of the day at a copy center (I seem to remember "Mail boxes etc.") at the end of the day after your interview, assuming it will be approved. I've always thought it odd that the consulate in Naples uses this copy center, but unless something has changed in the last few years, expect to pick it up that late afternoon. If you prefer, I believe the consulate will send you the passport/visa to your home address, but that may take a few days.

At the copy center where you will pick-up the visa, expect quite a few people all waiting for visas.

good luck
