Saylin I received the email from NVC which looks like confirmation of our case completed. Do you know how such confirmation email looks like generally? ours pretty much states that they have received documentation neccesary to complete pre-processing of our case- and that once interview date has been scheduled we will be notified.

I guess it is now official- we have case complete.

Yup, that sounds like the case complete email. You can see mine here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms#Correspondence_from_NVC (go down to case complete email)

I keep seeing different answers online about police certificate. My wife is in the Philippines, and she got Korea Police Certificate at Korean Embassy there in Philippines (I think that's where she got it). Do we need to mail to NVC the ORIGINAL? Or is a certified copy alright? And will she need to bring the original to the interview if we mail in certified copy?

No, your case is only complete once all 3 things have been accepted (AOS package, IV package, DS-260). I'm telling you to ask if the DS-260 was accepted because that's what the false checklist is based off. If they say it's been accepted, then 1 out of the 3 things have been accepted, then you'll only have 2 things left.

But, you may not get any false checklists for the two other items, so you need to call them and ASK. This is the fastest way to know if things have been accepted or not. So, when you call, ask them three things:

-Has my DS-260 been approved?

-Has my AOS checklist response been approved?

-Has my IV package been approved?

Only once all three above questions are 'yes' will you have a case complete.

Saylin, I asked them those 3 Q's, anD the agent told me that they have REVIEWED DS-260, and the IV but not the AOS, that is because I had to mail the I-864ez again which they received on 11/12, so only that hasn't been reviewed, As far as approval goes, I was told that at the consulate/embassy is such a thing done not here at NVC they only review the doc's.

All documents (birth, marriage, police, etc) in the IV package have to be originals/certified copies. You don't need to bring those documents to the interview; NVC will forward them to the consulate/embassy after an interview date is assigned, so they'll have it for the interview.

Cool, grats! Two down, one to go. No, NVC doesn't approve anything, but they do review packages, and once it's to their liking, they accept and add it to the case file. The case itself is only approved and a visa issued at the embassy/consulate.

Can anyone help me understand the difference between I-864ez and I-864. I filed my taxes last year and took my dad as a dependent which one will I have to fill out?

I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.

It's better to keep a photocopy of these documents and bring all those copies (even including AOS) to the interview. I have read that NVC sends stuff in leaky envelopes to the embassy.

Hi, thank you for this. This is so informative.

Recenly, my I-130 Application for my mom was approved last Nov 21st. It was expedited and the senator's office will help me follow up and will expedite at NVC.

Question:

1. It will be same process to NVC and address need to send required documents if the expedite will be approved? I read that after they approval of expedite they transferred it to consulate?

2. I already have some of the civil documents of my mom and still waiting for some documents in the Phil. If NVC approve the expedite and directly transfer to consulate, where I will send the documents needed?

3. If NVC approve the expedite request? What will be the different process between expedited to the regular process, if there is?

Thanks for the help

ok you guys can call me stupid all you want but i need to get this right.

This is what i understood in the NVC process:

-you find out the nvc number and the iin number

-you send the ds 261

-you get a package from nvc

-you pay aos and IV

-you wait for iv and aos to say paid on a website

-once it says paid you send in AOS, IV and ds 260(ds 260 online or not? if online with a photocopy of the documents??)

-wait if there are any mistakes or a case complete msg

-wait for package in the beneficiarys home about the interview date

and then move on to interview... right?

this would be a lot easier if there wasnt so many names for one little form

That's basically it. I have a summary of the process at the bottom of post 2.

-Don't forget you should give over both email addresses after you get the case numbers (this enables NVC to email you packages, instead of snail mailing them which can take weeks).

-The first package you get from NVC is just the case numbers, so nothing important as you should have gotten those over the phone.

-Yes, the DS-260 is online. The IV package is mailed separately.

-If you gave over email addresses, then the interview letter is sent by email to both of you

And each form has a single name/form number. Not sure what you're talking about having multiple names for each one... There's just 3 forms you need to know about at NVC:

-Choice of Agent form: DS-261 (online) [old paper version was called DS-3032, but is no longer used as of 9/1/13]

-Affidavit of Support form: I-864

-Immigrant Visa form: DS-260 (online) [old paper version was called DS-230, but is no longer used as of 9/1/13]

Hi Saylin, we submitted online our DS 260 last Nov.21 but have not submitted any of our AOS and IV package. Do I still have to call NVC if my DS-260 been approved?

Thank you so much for all the informations you are sharing with us.
