Yes i am doing every night... Thanks.

I guess you already filled up DS-261 form online ... Right? So what did you selected, meaning what option we have to select if there is no agent and Petitioner (me) itself is going to be agent? And other things we have to keep in mind for this one?

Normally since NVC received your case you should count around 15 business days.

You should call them everyday to check you status.

I wrote down my names (Petitioner) for an agent and that's it.

First, just take a deep breath. Even when you think you know everything, you probably don't (as all of us can probably verify), so the best is just to not get too stressed (doesn't help the process). Read carefully through the first two posts here, and many of the comments, and you should be fine. :-) Good luck.

Thanks im a little anxious like that... reading the 2 posts here that i saw how i didnt know/understand anything lol but i guess as always i must wait and see.

emelieindgren- did you make your medical examination set up BEFORE you had your NVC case complete? According to the http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3744.html one should NOT get the medical examination done before having a interview day scheduled. So I am a little confused.

Also, does anybody know if we can call the embassy and try and see if we can set up an appoitment, or do we have to wait on NVC?

Thanks

Some countries actually have advance medicals available in which one only needs the first package sent from NVC indicating their name and case number. But there's only a few countries like this, like the Philippines and the UK (off the top of my head).

As for interviews, you have to wait for NVC to schedule it, unless you've been expedited in which the package will be sent to the embassy and they'll schedule an interview.

Hi, Could you please clear one more doubt here:

My father-in-law will sponsor me (as my wife is jobless), thus does he fall in the category of joint sponsor or Household member (as checklist for both are different)?

Do both my sponsor here (i.e. my father-in-law) and my spouse has to fill I-864? and then my spouse has to mention in the cover letter that we are having a joint/household sponsor?

Now , when my spouse is not sponsoring me, even then do we need to submit tax returns for my spouse also?

Then in the end, do we need to submit all these documents in a single packet (as USCIS website says that Verify that the petitioner has submitted an I-864 or I-864EZ. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3202.html)?

Thanks

I usually only suggest the I-864A (aka household members) when it's a married couple (ie: the main sponsor fills out an I-864, then their spouse fills out an I-864A). For your case, I'd suggest they both fill out an I-864.

No need to mention in the cover letter there will be a joint sponsor, it'll be clear from the submitted paperwork. You can if you wish though.

Yes, the petitioner still needs to submit their own I-864 and tax information, whether they have a joint sponsor or not.

And yes, everything is submitted in ONE big AOS package. I'd suggest using a paperclip for the petitioner's portion (I-864, tax information) and then use another paperclip for the joint sponsor's portion (I-864, tax information, employment letter, pay stubs, proof of US residency/citizenship), and then use one big paperclip for the entire package (bar-coded cover sheet, cover letter, petitioner's portion, joint sponsor's portion). Put all that into a manila envelope. Write on that envelope the names of both the petitioner and beneficiary, both birth dates, both email addresses, case number, and at the top, write AOS package. Then put that manila envelope into an actual mailing envelope. That's how I'd do it anyways ;)

OMG i just got approved from my i130 and i realized im not as up to date as i should be with what i have to do with NVC im a lil scared...

Read posts 1 and 2 multiple times. Write down notes as you're reading. Print stuff out, highlight things. Pretend you're in school and studying for an exam ;)

Hi Everyone,

Our i130 pettition got approved yesterday after 9 months. Now we proceed towards NVC.

Inorder to expedite documentation regarding Police Certificate ( or police clearance certificate), kindly advise where the police clearance has to be sent. My US Citizen wife in New York and I am in India.

Please advise whether the police certificate from India and Australia ( I lived there for last 3 years) to be sent to New York or I must hold it in India? Is this certificate asked during Final Interview Stage in India before visa stamping?

Thanks.

The police certificate is required in the IV package, along with all the other beneficiary documents, so I'd suggest gathering everything you need now and mailing it off to your wife in the US, as the IV package will eventually (once you're allowed) be mailed to NVC in the US, so it'd be much quicker if she mailed it from within the US instead of India.

Saylin or anyone who have sent cover sheet earlier:

Can you tell me what needs to be included in cover sheet for AOS and IV? And what is format of both?

Do you mean the cover letter? The (bar-coded) cover sheet is provided on the payment portal.

Anyways, the cover letter is optional, but most people just include the order of the things submitted.

Examples:

-AOS cover letter (from a guide)

-IV cover letter (from a guide)

-AOS cover letter (mine)

-IV cover letter (mine)

Hello everyone! I just received NOA2 yesterday. So should I wait a week or longer before calling NVC for case number?

Congrats! Yup, wait a week or two, then just call like once or twice a week. Once a few weeks have passed by (or once NVC tells you they received your file), start calling more often, like once a day.

Just called NVC and my case is now completed! I am so happy, so just waiting for interview date now.

Congrats! kicking.gif

saylin- I was given medical appointment for next week- the doctor said it was fine and told me what to bring with me. So I guess it is ok to schedule medical once the case has been approved/completed by NVC.

Case completion doesn't matter to panel physicians. I'm guessing Sweden is another place that allows advance medicals. If a country allows advance medicals, they want to see the first package from NVC that shows name and case number. If they don't allow advance medicals, then they want to see the interview letter. There's no in between for case completes, as far as I've seen, since there's no consistent, solid proof of case complete (as not everyone gets the case complete email).
