Please looks at DOS reciprocity table. For india, the police clearance is from Passport office. Hence the name Passport Clearance.

If you look at India forum, they you can get more details on getting a passport clearance.

Thanks ScienceWorks...

As per my knowledge, For passport clearance , i have to take online appointment to passport office, and once its done, they just confirm if the police enquiry was done during passport issuance. Then finally they issue you a passport clearance.

But police clearance is something different in which you have to apply to police department of your area and they check your criminal background; and then finally issue a clearance.

Pls correct me if i am wrong somewhere.

Nobody is responding to me. :( So I'll repeat the question:

should we be doing I-864 or I-864EZ: my husband has some income in w-2 and some in 1099x and there are no dependents (only petitioning for me). Can he do the EZ or since not all income is covered with W-2 he should do the regular one?

Anyone? Thanks!

I'm the beneficiary.

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

oh ok. Well I guess since our case is completed, it is ok to get the medicals done even before the interview date is set.

No you have to wait for the nvc, the embassy won't make an interview appointment.. I'm booking my medical for mid January as I'm expecting to at least av an interview date by then, otherwise the embassy told me it doesn't matter if I book it before I have a date set.. But since it was so difficult getting a time I'm happy I called them now, as the Embassy only gives you 4 weeks notice on the interview dates. And we are going to the states in the end of January and I want to be done with everything then so I can just fly home to the interview.

Yes. that is correct. I am not sure if individual consulates have some other requirements. Otherwise I will go with reciprocity table and take the passport clearance.

It depends on whether or not you want the interest income to be considered. If you don't, file the EZ.

I'm not sure which of the 1099 it is exactly (not sure it's interest income). Thanks for the info!

I asked in my country they said they won't do without seeing the letter.. Plus medical should be don't before 7 or 15 days prior to interview..

Hi Everyone,

Our i130 pettition got approved yesterday after 9 months. Now we proceed towards NVC.

Inorder to expedite documentation regarding Police Certificate ( or police clearance certificate), kindly advise where the police clearance has to be sent. My US Citizen wife in New York and I am in India.

Please advise whether the police certificate from India and Australia ( I lived there for last 3 years) to be sent to New York or I must hold it in India? Is this certificate asked during Final Interview Stage in India before visa stamping?

Thanks.

Vermont received 3/14/16

Bio-metrics 4/12/16

i-751 Approved 2/28/17

First, just take a deep breath. Even when you think you know everything, you probably don't (as all of us can probably verify), so the best is just to not get too stressed (doesn't help the process). Read carefully through the first two posts here, and many of the comments, and you should be fine. :-) Good luck.

I received NOA2 on October 17th and NVC received on November 12th but still no case number:(

Normally since NVC received your case you should count around 15 business days.

You should call them everyday to check you status.

Does NVC look at income before or after taxes?

I think the only way to determine your income is by your tax papers. Whatever you say in any form does not matter. To avoid any potential delay, just look for a cosigner with you.
