Thanks Saylin I guess you are right. Its sometimes frustrating to be on hold for 30minutes just to be able to talk with NVC representative. Recently im lucky enough to go through less than five minutes. Hope next week we will hear good news from them. They always say it will take 10 - 20 days before our case will show in their system. Fingers cross......we still waiting and doing our best to have more patience and keep on praying.

Call at different times. Whenever I called at 5pm EST, I'd get through in just a few minutes. I've heard calling right at opening and right before they close at midnight are also good times to call.

I called NVC yesterday and was told by the CS rep that my document have been review but they are awaiting a final review. From the things she read on my file i could tell the documents have been reviewed. But i have never heard or read on this forum of an initial and final review.

Has anyone ever heard about this kind of situation? Its kind of weird to me.

Thanks for responding

I'm praying with you, dance. We're also hoping for something by Christmas...even though I know it's very hopeful at this point. Fed-Ex told me they had an "operational error" today and our documents are stuck in Paris. They were supposed to be here so I can send them to NVC on Monday. It's a glitch, so I'm trying to stay calm...but I know that with each day ticking towards Christmas, this gets less likely. Hopefully everything is going to go smooth and quickly for you! Good luck!

I too was hoping for him to be home around that time...while we don't celebrate Christmas, our 1 year anniversary is Dec 30. While I want to be hopeful, I really don't believe it's realistic to have his passport in hand by then. I have a feeling our case will be complete by the end of November...or first week in December since all documents were at NVC on October 22. (Depending on the country) It seems as though they tend to schedule interviews for a month later after case complete...so that brings us to end of December/early January for an interview. Plus another 10-14 days to get his passport/visa in hand after approval....so my guess is mid January.

I too am praying for a quick turnaround but it doesn't seem likely based on others' timelines. :/

Good luck to all of us!! Praying for a miracle here!

I tried coupe of times to call them during normal hours and I was waiting 20 mins, nobody picked the phone.

So I decide to call them in the morning, when they open.

I called them on Friday at 7:20 am, I was waiting around 10 mins and I got connected.

The whole conversation was 5 mins.

Just wondering how one goes about expediting a case. Is this something just reserved for military people? How difficult must one's circumstances be in order for them to expedite a case? Thanks in advance.

No, expedites aren't just reserved for those in the military. NVC's criteria is similar, if not the same, as USCIS's criteria, which is found here: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria If you don't fall into one of those, it doesn't mean you can't try. Just email NVC with your request and see what they say.

Hi all, I'm the US citizen (petitioner) and am temporarily in Singapore with my husband who is the IV applicant. We got an email today with the following checklist for my i864. (Our DS260 was approved last week):

Please review the instructions below then refer to the final page of this checklist for mailing
instructions.
I-864, Affidavit of Support Checklist
[x] The NVC recently completed our review of your visa case. While you meet the minimum qualifications for a visa
interview to be scheduled your Affidavit of Support contained one or more sections with missing or incorrect
information. Please review the additional instructions below then complete a new Affidavit of Support. (You can
download the I-864 form and instructions at http://www.uscis.gov/i-864.) Once you have completed the new
Affidavit of Support, please provide it to the principal applicant to bring to his or her visa interview. Do not submit
your new Affidavit of Support to the NVC, as doing so will reopen your case and cause processing delays.
[x]
In Part 1. Basis for Filing Affidavit of Support, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 2. Information on the Principal Immigrant, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 3, Information on the Immigrant(s) You are sponsoring, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 4. Information on the Sponsor, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 5. Sponsor's Household Size, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...
[x]
In Part 8, Sponsor's Contract, please correct the following...
[x]
The Form I-864 we received was missing the following page(s). Please ensure you include all nine pages when you
resubmit the form.
[x]
You must submit the following financial evidence:
[x] Proof of U.S. domicile; pages 3 and 4 of the I-864 instructions contain information on how to prove U.S. domicile.
[x]
NVC Special Instructions
[x]

Am I correct to assume that our I-864 has indeed been approved and that my husband should bring more supporting documents during his interview to show my domicile is in the US and that we intend to reside in the US after his visa is approved? (I will be using your very useful sample letter of proving US domicile found in this forum and provide copies of utility/insurance bills, credit card info, etc).

The reason I'm a bit worried is that this email also came with a case number bar coded cover sheet with an NVC address. Should we just ignore this?

Is this checklist above quite standard before an interview is scheduled?

Also, would you know how long we will have to wait to get an interview date here in Singapore assuming our case is complete?

Many thanks in advance. This forum has been soooo helpful.
