I see people getting checklist for NOT putting N/A but... has anyone got a checklist for putting N/A?..

I put N/A on my AOS application and I never got a checklist for it and it was approved.

Then if putting N/A in the blanks doesn't cause a checklist but leaving it blank might cause a checklist.. It would make sense to do it no matter what the instructions say.. Thank You

Finished for now!!

NVC case # 12-9-13

I asked the question to NVC this morning wen I called about if they had received my case yet, and the lady told me to not leave ANYTHING blank regardless of what the forms say. I believe I was told similar advice when I filled out other forms in the past.

Anyone of you with MSCxx # (field offices) NOA2s from the end of Oct have been assigned the IIN number already?

Thanks and good luck to you all.

We were from MSC and had our I-130 approved in early November.

NVC has assigned info to us and we've begun the payment process.

USCIS says it can take up to 30 days for the file to reach NVC and another 8 weeks (I think) to be scanned in at NVC.

I'd keep calling them. There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason as to the timelines with this stuff ...

9/14/2013 -I-130 petition sent to Chicago via CanadaPost

9/18/2013 -Delivered

9/22/2013 -NOA1 via text and email

10/1/2013 -Received NOA1 hard copy from Overland Park, KS.

11/7/2013 -NOA2 via text and email

11/14/2013 -NOA2 hardcopy from Lee Summit, MO.

11/17/2013 -NVC Received

11/20/2013 -AOS Invoiced

11/20/2013 -DS-261 Completed

11/22/2013 -AOS PAID

11/24/2013 -AOS Submitted

11/25/2013 -IV Fee PAID

12/02/2013 -DS-260 Completed

12/9/2013 -OPTIN Received

12/9/2013 -AOS Received

Ahhh got my NOA-2 on November 13th...still waiting for case number..this is like the USCIS process all over again

I'm right there with you, I'm a week behind with November 18th NOA2.

This part almost seems worse because there seem to be so many different steps in between and so many different ways to screw up and be sent back to the 'back of the line' to start over.

And then just more and more waiting between each step, with no 'good' estimate of completion. Just "30 days" or "8 weeks" is what I keep seeing/hearing regarding each step, until the end, of course, when AFTER it's complete, we could STILL be waiting one to three months just to get an interview at the embassy!

Sigh...

Saylin,

Perhaps since this N/A in all fields seems to be pretty common among everyone, it may be helpful to put that in the FAQs for the Dec NVC thread for ALL forms (since my checklist was not for the I-864EZ, but rather the I-864A). It may help prevent unnecessary checklists in the future.

12/30/2012 Got married!

02/01/2013 Sent I-130 via Priority Mail USPS

02/05/2013 NOA1 Priority Date

04/09/2013 Called USCIS-informed by Tier 2 officer that my case was transferred to Washington D.C. on March 13

09/05/2013 NOA2

09/27/2013 NVC received case

Submitted DS-261

Paid AOS bill

10/16/2013 Paid IV bill

10/19/2013 Submitted DS-260
10/21/2013 Mailed AOS and IV packages overnight

11/15/2013 IV package accepted/Checklist for AOS

11/26/2013 New AOS documents received at NVC

12/19/2013 Case Complete

12/27/2013-Received Interview letter

01/26/2014-Husband's Medical Exam

02/13/2014-Interview- Approved, but the consular officer did not see I-864 joint sponsor documents, and sent my husband home with the packet of all the original documents, and told him to mail it in when he gets it. My husband realized that the "missing" documents had been there all along. Husband immediately mailed it back.

02/26/2014-Consular office received "missing" documents and gave it to CO for review

03/17/2014-Visa Issued!

03/20/2014- Received Visa

For i-864A there are no specific instruction about none or N/A. But for i-864 it specifically says blank. By the time the NVC people gets briefed about it, they will start RFE-ing for putting N/A and not putting blank.

so I guess from what they say, where ever there is a question and there is no answer, put N/A or None.

For eg in part 2 if you choose a foreign mailing address, then state and Zip are empty, so I guess I should put None there since I cannot leave it empty.
