thanx a lottt saylin!! also i have one last question! that since my brother in law is the joint sponsor, so he has filed his taxes.. now for 13.a.1 we will write his total gross income as mentioned in the tax return. and for the current employment and current income.. do we have to calculate his income from his paystubs? or write what's mentioned in his employment letter? or write the income in the 2012 tax return... because the income in 2012 tax written and his current annual income as mentioned on job letter have changed!

Remember, there's a difference between the amounts on tax returns and current income. The amount for tax returns are taken from the tax returns and will be from previous years. The question about current income is referring to his current 2013 income. So, for most people, this is different. So, take the amount from his employment letter for this one.

I just received a checklist!!! FOR THINGS THAT WERE IN MY PACKAGES!

-AOS form

-police certificate

I am so angry!

Currently on hold with NVC right now. I want to request to speak to someone who has my package right in front of them, so I can point out the police certificate. The AOS was in a separate package that they received.

Can I request a supervisor?

Just got off the phone with NVC. The man on the phone said that the documents have not been reviewed yet which is why they sent me a checklist. And I kept repeating to him that yes they did review the IV packet since they said that the police certificate isn't in there. He kept saying "ma'am, they haven't review it yet which is why you had a checklist. The packages haven't been review yet." He just kept telling me not to worry and that he is 100% confident it hasn't been review yet.

Do you recommend I call again and ask the same question???

I received the following e-mail with the checklist (some parts have been deleted to shorten):

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant
visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents
which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required
information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.
Please read the enclosed information to determine where to send all required copies of missing
documents. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please call the National Visa Center at (603)
334-0700 between the hours of 7:30am and midnight ET.
Please include a copy of this letter with your correspondence and write your case number clearly (exactly
as it appears below) on the upper right-hand corner of all documents.
From the date you mail or transmit the requested information, please allow 20 business days for NVC to
review this documentation/your mail. When we complete our review, the NVC will notify
you/petitioner/beneficiary/attorney with information regarding the next processing step.
______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________

From there, you can fill out an Affidavit of Support form online, then print the completed form and mail
it to NVC.
When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

Beginning October I sent my AOS package, and last week they told me that I need to fill out a new I-184ez out, because I left part 3 blank where it asks for residence address IF DIFFERENT than mailing address. Well, since the address is the same I didn't fill it out, so anyhow I filled out new I-184 form out and mailed it right away last week, so my question is am I going to wait now again up to 30 days because of this or is going to go little faster this time???? Anybody had this happen to them???

I'd suggest calling up again, yes.

It definitely looks like they reviewed the IV package. The checklist for the AOS package is a false checklist (they just haven't gotten to it yet), so no worries on that part. The police certificate though is the important part as it seems like they missed it.

Hi saylin can u tell me does it matter which one u complete first the aos or the iv package? I am in egypt with my husband but will be going back to states dec 5th because i am expecting our first child and need to see the dr. this is the issue he is not good with filling paperwork out and i would like to have the ds261 done before i leave here is it possible for me to fill it out for him ..we have filled the ds230 to go off of it and i also have a couple questions bout that form where they ask about the eductional institutions he has attended do they mean colleges and such or do they mean to include where he went to elementary thru high school as well? also on the police certificate my husband went to apply for it and didnt realize he needed a picture also but by chance he had one in his wallet that was from last year and they took it with no problem and he picked up his police cert a few days later do you think there will be a problem since the pic is not current like his other ones like on our marriage cert and that went with our g-325?

Since they're two different tracks that have nothing to do with one another, then it doesn't matter which is done first.

Yes, the petitioner can fill out the DS-261 on behalf of the beneficiary. Many people do, especially with beneficiaries in countries with unreliable internet, or a language barrier.

Remember, the DS-230 isn't accepted anymore. You have to fill out the DS-260 online. (Although filling out a DS-230 ahead of time is a good idea, so you have most of the answers). For the education question, you start with high school and go up. You skip elementary school.

I don't know about the police certificate. Mine didn't require a picture. All I know is the actual pictures you have to submit have to be taken within the previous 6 months. But, for the PCC, unless it states somewhere on it the date the picture was taken, NVC will have no idea when it was taken.

Beginning October I sent my AOS package, and last week they told me that I need to fill out a new I-184ez out, because I left part 3 blank where it asks for residence address IF DIFFERENT than mailing address. There's no express checklist line. It's the same wait time as the original package submission.

What a relief, and i am so happy..., by the way the interview only last for less than 5 mins.lol..the nice consul ask my son if how old is he, and if he already meet his step dad (my husband the petitioner). And the rest of the question is to me, the consul ask me if im american citizen and i said i become a citizen 4 months ago, and congratulates me. And thats it for the interview, and he told us to sit down and wait for our name to be called on how to get my son visa...

Hi,

What if the petitioner does not work and their parents income isn't enough to sponsor the beneficiary.. Can the petitioner's friend sponsor the beneficial?

A joint sponsor doesn't have to be a family member. As long as they make enough and are a US citizen/resident, that's all that's required.
