I have a question about NVC expedite... I know with the USCIS stage, they try to process your case within 30 days of the granted expedite. What happens with the NVC stage? Especially with us both living abroad?

Thanks, and like everyone has been saying.... this topic is amazing.

I think every approved expedite has a different final processing time. There doesn't appear to be a standard. It could get done in a few days or a few weeks. Like you said though, I'm sure they would try to get it done in less than 30 days if possible. Either way, it will be much faster than the normal processing time, which at this point is not anywhere near less than 30 days.

I think having a lawyer has both sides of the coin. They are just sitting their ### and doing nothing to follow up your case just like ours. We did all the works just to know where was our case? When I found this site and joined ATLANTA TRANSFERRER, that really helps a lot. Thanks to BISMARK again and the rest of the members who keep on pushing me before to send letter to senators and congressman. We did not received any letter from USCIS that our case was transferred from NBC TO ATLANTA not until we seek the help of public officials.

Dec.6,2012 - Noa1

September 6, 2013 - received letter from USCIS telling our case was at Local Atlanta office

September 21,2013 - Husband received a call interview from USCIS lady doing a phone interview. He was

hesitant at first to answer all her inquiries thinking who will be working on a Saturday

but he was polite enough to answer her questions.

September 24, 2013 - Received TXT & EMAIL - CASE APPROVED

September 28, 2013 - Received Noa2 Hard copy

NVC

October 22, 2013 - NVC received files

November 5, 2013 - Received our case number & Invoice ID number

November 6, 2013 - Received email from NVC giving us both FEE BILL for AOS & IV which said is due

and payable.

November 7, 2013 - Hubby sent $1,818 to lawyer to do the NVC processing. $1,500 covers their PF

while $318 covers for AOS & IV fee.

waiting waiting waiting for the next stage.............

After receiving the case number & Invoice ID number last Nov. 5, I right away sent an email to give them those numbers. And they were surprised! Everytime my husband give them a call regarding NVC, they will always tell that NVC process will take a long while because of the shut down and giving us FIVE MONTHS frame. crying.gif

Early Last month, they sent me a form to review if the info are correct and told me to fill in some information in all those spaces with asterisk. I reviewed the form and was surprised to see that #35 question about List dates of all previous visit to United States. The dates they put was 11 - 2018 and 12 - 2025. I said to myself, where the hell they get this dates? So I put a big question mark in that space and asked them about it and told them to focus typing the correct information on the form. Another thing was they did not put the names of my two younger kids on the form. Only list down the older one. So I asked them about that too. That was our first and last communication that month. Never replied me about those entries they typed which are wrong. rolleyes.gif

Now here comes NVC stage and they are paid in full of their service. I hope they will do their job religiously. You are right Saylin that it will slow down the process when you hire a lawyer because they have other things to do while if its only us applicant who will do the process, it will be a bit more faster because we really do our best to do it done. She promised to send me today of an outline of DS 260 form for me to review so I hope she will.

Yes, it goes a little quicker as the IV bill is invoiced at the same time as the AOS bill, since the lawyer is automatically selected as agent, by-passing the DS-261 stage. Depending on the lawyer though, they can slow things down elsewhere as they may not send packages right away or just generally take their time with things.

NVC expedite times will vary as NVC will have to forward your request to your embassy/consulate who will then decide to accept or deny. So, it all depends on the work load of your embassy/consulate. Some people find out the results within a few days, others take a few weeks. While you're waiting though, proceed as normal with NVC processing, just so you're not wasting any time (in case the request is denied).

Why embassy? Will the expedite cover interview date too? or just processing at NVC

Yes, the expedite typically covers the interview date as, if they accept the request, your case will close at NVC and an interview date will be assigned, in which you'll have to bring the AOS and IV packages.

If I understand correctly, the Docs in take at NVC stage will be skipped? and we have to do the old style? When I immigrated, AOS and IV and all original docs are presented at the consulate during interview.

Yes, if the expedite is approved early, then it's very likely that they'll ask for the two packages to just be brought to the interview. Things may differ by country though.

I tried coupe of times to call them during normal hours and I was waiting 20 mins, nobody picked the phone.

So I decide to call them in the morning, when they open.

I called them on Friday at 7:20 am, I was waiting around 10 mins and I got connected.

The whole conversation was 5 mins.

Today I called NVC again and they told me that they can't give a case number, because my case is not already added in to the computer and I have to call them after a month.

Do I have to call them on Monday again?

At this point do i add it if I see it on NOA2 ? There is an Alien registration number but its in petitioner column I dont understand why. whats the purpose. is it for beneficiary?

I am confused with that number on there.

Part 2 is only for information on the immigrant you are sponsoring. Part 3 is only for information on the Sponsor.

Part 2 - 6. Alien Registration Number - If the immigrant had an alien registration number you would know it. It isn't something you get on an NO2. Don't forget that the I-864EZ is used for other types of petitions so there could be blocks that are not applicable to you situation. For instance, Part 2 - 5. Social Security Number - most immigrants don't have one of those yet, so you just put "N/A" in that block.

I had my original I-864EZ kicked back because I did not put "N/A" in one of the blocks - I left that block empty. The NVC phone reps told me that they are very strict about empty blocks on that form. I had to resubmit the I-864EZ just to put "N/A" in a block and had to spend another $120 for document shipping. So I strongly suggest you put "N/A" in every block that isn't applicable to your situation.

Hi all, so I was checking my AOS paper and I realized that I had written my dob in dd/mm/yyyy format and not in mm/dd/yyyy. I don't know why I did that. I never write it in that format. Would I get a checklist for that?? Should I correct it and send it to NVC?? I'm hoping it won't be noticeable but you never know. Saylin or anybody please help.
