So sorry about this delay, yes, its just a delay. From all you pointed out here, I want to emphasize again like others said, they make decisions before you walk up to that window, your hubby had enough evidence and that makes it one less thing to worry about, especially if you have enough pictures, the part I would like for you to cross examine is the questions the CO asked and if his answers were consistent with what was documented. These guys are highly trained, and you dont want to open any window of slightest doubt to them, they grab it. You will get through this , try to follow Dwheels and Gowon's advise, they will go a long way to help your rebound......He's coming home

N.B Some CO's are just unbelievable beyond evidence you need a lot of prayers to get past them, they are the final exit

People here I feel really under estimate the interview. If it wasn't such a big deal they wouldn't have that step. Of course the CO may have their mind made up before you get there but that's the whole point of the interview to convince them otherwise if they suspect something else. Its just like a job interview, or any interview you will encounter in your life. Everyone already has a conclusion in their mind, that's what interviewees have to realize ( its not fair but is human nature) so its up to you to try to persuade them in your favor. Your husband thinks they were simple questions and of course they are simple questions he really needs to be more specific. Note to anyone asking "simple" questions is one of the easiest way to catch someone in a lie ( not saying at all your husband lied), liars tend to be very ready answer complex questions but don't prepare for simple ones.

My in law went for his interview and they asked him if he and his wife went on a honeymoon and for no good reason he lied and said yes they did. Simple question simple answer. He got denied. He and his wife had been a couple for 3 years before that and saw each other very often. I mean they are reunited now and have been for a while. Your day will come but in my opinion something went wrong at the interview.

Sorry to hear this. This is not the end and just means that your path is going to be a little longer than you planned for.

Read and follow DWheels advice and instruction.

You are going to be upset and depressed but then you'll get out of it and then watch out world.

Grill your Husband for the specifics of the interview, start collecting evidences for a rebutal as I understand that you will be getting a NOID/NOIR and will have a short term to respond to it.

There are still some $900 tickets on United, go back home and get closer to your Husband and generate more evidence.

His family dont live in Ghana they came there for the wedding.we choose Ghana because it much safer and i was concern about going to Nigeria base on what I read on travelstate.gov.

Both he and i was legal there.

Reason y he thought it was a good interview the officer kept nodding her head and saying good good, commenting on pictures-this beach is nice where did u take this one.only to denied him in the end.he said the question was simple

I really didnt see this coming this is our first marriage for both of us or maybe am missing something....

The co that denied us was doing the exact thing... Nodding his head yes and saying good, good. I bet it's the same one. An older guy?

Technically a CO can not deny you but return your case to USCIS with recommendation to deny.

USCIS will send you a NOID/NOIR for your rebuttal and the decision is then made to deny or to send the case back

to the consulate.

They said case is closed because they refuse to deal with it any further at the post but your case is not dead at all for USCIS.

Since the CO asked why you married in Ghana and not Nigeria, to me it stands out as a possible suspicion and refusal to approve.

I would address the fact that it was you, the petitioner feeling safer in Ghana and that you preferred to marry there like you said in

your comment above.

It happens that some fraudsters marry outside of the country while being already engaged or (traditionally) married to someone else in Nigeria.

They chose another country because they do not want to be seen marrying a USC at home in front of friends and most of the family.

This is how the CO's think, they assume and speculate without hard evidence and cover everything under the umbrella of

"not bona fide" with the slightest gut feeling.

I hope he covered every angle in the interview about the marriage in Ghana, such as it was more economical and financially

feasible marrying in Ghana than in Malaysia, mother and brother were closer since you insisted on Ghana and not Nigeria blah blah etc.

Giving a shy answer that is not convincing reasoning would not do.

If he studies or works in Malaysia they may really wonder why Ghana.

Lagos likes to see a wedding with family and friends and lots of photos of it.

Omg!!! The same older guy approved my k1 visa...He denied everyone he interviewed before me and I was so scared when my number showed at his counter. I just prayed and answer his questions in fact I told him I don't know answers to questions that are not related to my fiancée lol and he said sorry and continued with the right question. He frowned throughout the interview but I kept a smiling face and I got approved anyways....be strong all shall be well soon

Thank you guys for ur support.

Gown i will be going there soon as i get the entry visa i just applied for it

Dwheels i sent in a lot of evidence to NVC here a list

pictures before, during and after the wedding

flights tickets, copies of passport pages showing entry and exit stamp

emails messages from 2011 to present

facebook chats

call logg from 2011 to present

my husband also take all of the above but in grater numbers

As regard redflag am not aware of any

Am 6 years older than him,am in my early 30s

same race

i have a child, him none

same religion

meet his mom and older brother....father die

visit him 3 times, 1 weeek in malaysia, second visit 1month in Ghana where we go married, third visit in Ghana 2 months 1 week.i never been to Nigeria the CO ask him y I go to Ghana and not Nigeria

He said the interview was good the officer keep nodding her head while trying bearly look at him.....took the fb chats and when inside another room came back 30 minutes and said am sorry hand him the slip ..she tell him not to worry they send back to uscis and uscis will ask me for more evidence

Hope this make sense

OK - so , with the big pile presented into NVC,

and 3 trips to see him

I suggest to you - the background checks have unveiled something untoward, and the CO pegged 'not a bonafide relationship' to save you some future embarrassment.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

OP, please take this as constructive criticism.

In the scope of things, Ghana is not that more safer than Nigeria though I will say that some parts of both areas are safer than others.

IMHO, part of your future rebuttal should include visit(s) to Nigeria to meet the rest of the family.

Just my opinion.

OP, this happens often with Lagos as you know.

I believe you will get approved if you address your NOID/NOIR letter, there are just too many couples

that get refused and then approved which makes it an over reach of discretion of the CO's the first time around in my opinion.

If there were solid reasons and hard evidence for refusal then we would not constantly see approvals after initial refusals.

Their reasons or should I say speculations for refusal would not so easily be overcome and USCIS would deny.

We do not see that many denials here after NOID/NOIR rebuttals for CR1's and we see a lot of refused K1 being approved as CR1.

If there is indeed hard evidence other than "not bona fide" you will see it soon.

Be hopeful !

Keep gathering relationship proof and bite the bullet and go to Nigeria if you can and take more photos with varies family member

and friends.

I still think the wedding happening in Ghana and not Nigeria was your obstacle.

Just my opinion.

(USC writing under my husband's VJ account) Gowan, I know you are Nigerian, and know Nigeria far better than I...but from an American's point of view, Ghana is a million times safer than Nigeria. Just visit the Department of State site for both countries and you will see the difference, not to talk of personal experience. I spent about 5 weeks in Naija and even while trying to hide myself in the backseat of the car/taxi etc , if a police officer saw me I did not escape being pulled over and harassed til we shelled out money. I had guns pointed in my face, yelled at and Even at times when my husband was refusing to pay, we were dragged to a police post. Luckily he knew someone who knew someone and he called him to have the police release us, but the place is no joke. And this was in the middle of the day, if it was night time Im sure I wouldn't be here writing this. We could never go out at night and almost everytime we left the bank we were 'escorted' to our car by the friendly boys who were out to get our money! That is just is just a couple examples, I could write a novel! It was too hard to enjoy anytime there, unfortunately. Im sure people will say they had a different experience, but honestly I stayed in nice areas, went to nice places and still found the harassment overwhelming. Ghana, on the other hand, where I've been living for 4 years....the light is (for the most part) stable, NO police harassment. I mean we are out til after midnight some nights and certainly after 10 most nights and coming home we hit at least 3 police stops...they look in the car, see me clearly and wave us on to keep going. Ive never ONCE been harassed or asked for anything. I come and go to the markets, the banks, everywhere and no area boys come targeting me. Its just so free and cool here. I love Nigeria because it is my husbands country, but as an American, it is FAR safer to live in Ghana.

I myself felt safer in Ghana too. I wasn't asked for anything from anybody there. I was not in the tourist areas and could even walk in the night by myself. I wasn't asked for anything at the airport...but in Lagos? forgetaboutit! Every one i pass wants something and my husband is hassled for money by police just to get in the airport to help me and see me off. Don't get me wrong....I am willng to stay wth my husband there if we are denied but It wont be easy.
