On October 22 our I129F petition was approved (NOA2). I was looking through the list of things for packet 3 and I saw something about a police certificate --Justice Record Check #2. My fiance and I are confused by this document. What is it? How can she obtain a copy for her packet?

Thanks everyone!

Justice Record number 2 is for package 4 which means she will bring it to interview day. NVC will receive your file from USCIS and then assign the case number before sending your file to Embassy in VietNam. The Embassy will send her a letter ( package 3 ) that has the a link http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/231771/PDFs/K-INSTRUCTION.pdf

She needs to fill DS 160 online and DS 2001 ( paper form ). When that is done, she needs to send DS 2001 ( filled ), 2 visa photo and photocopy of her passport to Embassy .

The Embassy will send the interview letter ( package 4) that are required Justice Record # 2, medical exam, vaccine , and I-134.

Justice Record # 2 ( Lý lịch tư pháp số 2) is the record that will provide criminal history of her. She can obtain that at Department of Justice ( Sở Tư Pháp ). I believe the #1 and # 2 will expire 6 months and 1 year, respectively. So, tell her to get number 2.

Thanks for all the great information!

I guess the confusion is where we obtain a justice/police record. I looked all over the consulate website and it just says it needs to be obtained at the local Justice Department. Perhaps more specific details will be in package 4.

One other question: Can package #3 be dropped off or does it need to be mailed?

Thanks again!

How do you obtain a record of never being married? This is the first time I have heard of this requirement.
