That's one of the reasons why I decided to file for a K1 visa rather than getting married so we will be together faster and finish the whole process together.

I am confused by this.. I didn't see this when I was there. But that I am sure that it is possible. I love the Dutch.. they were good to me. Maybe when can talk ... But I can't see bringing my Husband here after being there... because it appears way better there.. We were in Maastricht..

We were in Heerlen. And I'll tell you honestly, it wasn't like I moved there and immediately started disliking Dutch people. It was a gradual, grinding process. It was being told repeatedly that I couldn't find a job in customer service (by the government! And the temp agencies, which are a big deal there.) because I didn't speak ENGLISH. (I wound up working in a restaurant as a dish washer for more than 5 years. Good people, but crazy hours, and physically crippling work.) The woman at the CWI (old government employment agency) told me I'd never find a job there because my Dutch wasn't even good enough to clean houses, and maybe I should just go back to my own country where I belonged. (She said it in the most broken English I've ever heard in my life. I actually asked her to just speak Dutch to me because I couldn't understand her English at all.) I've had people cross the street with their children because apparently I'm too short, my complexion is olive, and my dark eyes and hair labelled me as a scary foreigner. I had some guy come up to me while I was walking my dogs and ask me if I was an illegal Polish hooker. (No, I wasn't dressed provocatively, either. Jeans and a T-shirt.) We had neighbors who asked my husband if I was allowed to be there, if I was allowed to leave the house by myself (apparently, they thought I was an illegal muslim mail order bride or something), and who told him the neighborhood was going to because of all the immigrants moving in. I was hounded because I dared speak in English to my kids. We were both hounded by family because he didn't treat me like an indentured servant.

It's one thing when you deal with the occasional jack-wad. It's something else when it becomes a constant thing. When you hate leaving your house and dealing with people because you're sick of the asinine comments.(Which, btw, I didn't get when I first got there because I didn't know Dutch. People used to say completely obnoxious things to me and then laugh because I didn't understand that they were making fun of me. Once I learned Dutch well enough, I made sure that they understood I was not going to deal with that #######.) I integrated, spoke Dutch, had a job and paid taxes, was active in community groups, and had two cute little Dutch girls who were definitely learning more Dutch ways than American. Acceptance and tolerance may be their marketing ploy, but as far as I've seen, the vast majority of the Dutch are fairly intolerant to anything the moment you get the label of 'darky'. To be sure, there were some very nice people around. But to me, they were few and far between.

And after 8 years, I seriously couldn't deal with it anymore. I don't accept that behavior in my own country, and I sure as heck was not about to accept being treated like that anywhere else. Even my husband, who IS Dutch, would get harassed every single day he walked out the door because he has red hair. It's not something he's ever had to deal with when he's been here in the states. At all. No one harasses him because of his hair, and if anyone would try to be an anti-immigrant jerk to him, everyone *I* know would stick up for him and defend him, instead of trying to excuse the person harassing him, or explaining why he was to blame for being harassed by virtue of being a foreigner.

There were plenty of things that I liked about living there, don't get me wrong. Otherwise I really wouldn't have lasted 8 years. But at some point, it was just too much.

Yeah, it would be nice if all of us could do that. But we're not allowed to be with our spouses and children.

coded, Now You are talking. the processing time of Fiance visa is faster than Spouse visa. Dont know wats wrong with USCIS. Preference should be given to legally or offically married couples. Should not be given to the fiance visa applicants. they can wait for their loved one.Spouses shouldnot be apart. I m married and applied for CR1. Everyday the distance make us more distant by fights, tears, misunderstandings. if we live together, that could be more better to build n stay on the relationships. USCIS may be the root cause for many couples getting divorce. who knows. Only god can save us.

Hello All!!!!

I don't know if its just me or someone else is going through same BS from USCIS! We've filed an i130 petition in March and still no NOA2! Isn't that just crazy? I noticed people who filed in August though for a K1 get approval within 2 months! What da hell is wrong with those guys giving priority to people who aren't married while keep those legally married apart for long?

Just doesn't make any sense to me!

Hi, I knew about this since years ago , that's why I chosen K1 instead of marry before. Probably they think that people would use this (get married before) as advantage .

Hey All!

Will it affect my chances if I apply for a B1/B2 visa? I am sick and tired of just sitting and waiting for USCIS to approve my petition, originally it shouldn't take this long,or are they trying to test the strenght of the marriage or what? Sometimes I don't know what to even think, K1's get approval within a short period of time while we don't. I don't wanna do anything that may affect me later on so I'd like to know if its wise to give a tourist visa a try.
