Being away from your fiance is WAAAAY different from being away from your spouse. I have experienced both and i can say that it is a whole lot harder to be separated when you're already married. They might not understand where we're coming from coz theyre not the ones experiencing this torture but im sure if they were in our shoes they would also have the same thoughts, complaints, etc...

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: China
Timeline

We were K-1 and it took us seven months to be approved and even a few months for the interview after that. At the time there seemed like no end in sight. Then about a week or so before we were approved, the floodgates opened and many couples were approved very quickly. I was following the Sept 2012 K-1 group at the time, and we bitched and complained as has everyone else who has had to wait for any significant amount of time.

Try to stay positive, do what you can and contact your congressman. But try to be supportive and not point the fingers at other people who are also just trying to be with their loved one.

Journey so far:

09/14/2012: Sent I-129F Packet

09/21/2012: NOA1 Received

04/22/2013: NOA2 Notice of approval
05/08/2013 NVC Received

06/01/2013 Packet 3 Received

06/04/2013 Packet 3 Sent

06/10/2013 Packet 4 email received

06/27/2013 First Scheduled interview-cancelled (didn't get notarized paperwork in time)

08/12/2013 K-1 interview passed!

08/28/2013 Lili Arrives in the U.S.!!!

10/04/2013 Marriage!!!

03/26/2014 AOS Approved!

04/02/2014 Received GC

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and think of what could go right!

This sort of thing was discussed here in the past, it comes up every single time one group/type of petition moves ahead at whatever center they are in, and the rest go wild laying the blame. In the wrong place. It's human nature I suppose, to want to lay blame, and somehow punish those speedier filers for 'holding up genuine' petitioners, and feeling as though They are the reason there's no movement in their own type of petition.. There was actually a request at one stage, that people who had been approved should not be allowed to post in excited terms that they had the Visa, because it upset the ones still waiting. Luckily that nonsense came to nothing.

No one is rubbing your face in it, and I can think of no reason why should K1's empathy to a group now demanding they be moved to the bottom of some imaginary list because being married is way more important, more superior. Respect is earned. You don't get that by your status in a group of people all standing in separate lines. If reading about other visa petitions makes you angry, then don't read them. Stop doing the maths about how long.fast it took them. Stop comparing your individual petitions to any and all.

They (the K1's) would feel different if the roles were reversed. So it makes me wonder " why can't the CR1 and the IR1 just bring our spouses home too"? We have the same process? The difference is... that the K1's have a probation period of 2 years. (then adjust status) . so they get to figure out if marriage works for them or not! We on the other hand.. especially the IR1's have already been married over that.. So why can't our spouses come home to America... finish the paperwork and NOT get the ... ( ooooh so wonderful GREENCARD) until the paperwork is done?

America is STILL LETTING people in on the K1 visa .. that might not ever get married or disappear and never leave... so why can't everyone's significant others come home? Let them ALL IN why not? Because you can not justify to me.. all the debates over boarders, and security... that some how the K1's are safer risk.. then the Married CR1 or IR1's... they are easier maybe? I don't know.. but IF FAIR IS FAIR.. then we should all be able to be together with our loved ones.. until the immigration process is over...

So that being said.. the K1's would feel different if the shoe was on the other foot...

YES!! Very well said. You took the words right out of my mouth, just like the previous poster.

FYI last time I checked this is a CR1 thread, and many K1's were giving their opinions that didn't really help me in my process. There is so many BS out there online and that's why I trust the info thats given to me from fellow CR1 filers but the opinions given here by K1 filers is pretty useless to me, I haven't gone once in K1 thread and tell them my opinion because I have no clue regarding K1 process. Just trying to keep all the info straight in my mind and it will help if CR1 experience ppl gave their input instead of ppl without any experience.

I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.

I'm allowed to post on any thread I like. I don't bash people, or belittle their relationships. FYI this isn't exactly a progress report thread any rate, it's "USCIS sucks and we KNOW who's fault it is' . Don't think for a second K1's won't respond to that. And they are allowed to.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

The shoes been on the other foot. Big time. Anyone who'd been around longer than five minutes would know that. 5 years ago for one thing, and no, the K1's in the day weren't running around bashing all the married people who were ahead of them. They had actual helpful threads, threads with information and spreadsheets, numbers to call. Not just pointless moaning, blaming, and bashing. That's not in the spirit of VJ. We are here to help each other.

Yes, because I just sit there and bash K-1s personally, as if it's their fault. I never did any such thing. Stop putting words in my mouth and accusing me of things I didn't do, as I told a previous poster. I'm making points about the process and how it's unfair to I-130s at the moment, not saying that it's the fault of K-1s personally, as if they're intending to do us harm, that CR/IR-1s are backlogged.

Like I said in my previous post, whereas other backlogs seemed to be addressed and rectified, it doesn't appear that there is any end in sight to this current one with I-130s. They don't appear to be doing anything about it and don't seem to want to make it better. That's not BLAMING K-1s for the debacle, it's pointing out something I'm observing as a matter of raw numbers.

FYI.... we aren't talking about 5 years ago.... We are talking about "right now" the present time.....

This thread topic is "what's wrong with the USCIS?" and since nobody really knows the TRUE reason and since this is a public forum and since it isn't any kind of progress report thread... People can say whatever they like and voice whatever opinion they have. And if they want to point fingers.. then they are free to do so. Feel free to bite back.. but you can't take away opinions....

I personally don't give a rats @$$ about 5 years ago... and I have been around here wayyyy longer than 5 minutes... so chill out.

from the mouth of someone who is already approved and finished with their journey... We are talking about the CURRENT situation and backlog. Please do not hop on this thread and tell people how they should or shouldn't feel.

Nobody here ever said " darn those K-1 filers, if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be backlogged" Everyone knows its the USCIS's process and poor planning.

I personally think that they USCIS needs to review their priorities and process the married petitions first. I never said they should STOP processing the K-1s.

People here HAVE said K1's have lesser relationships, and that is untrue

And I quite what was happening 5 years ago, in order to help you understand that it DOES turn, for the better or the worse, and has done for years. So moaning long times are here to stay is also not the truth.

.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

yes, lesser relationship . I have seen that said on this thread and I happen to agree with it.

Again, my opinion....

I was here 6 years ago and the wait for a K-3 was over 9 months.( the petition that was supposed to be the faster way) and back then, it was the same exact ####### going back and forth and it was the same rumor mill it is today.

Engagement is not a legally binding contract or commitment.

Marriage is.

No one is saying K-1 petitions shouldn't be processed in a timely manner.

We just want our petitions to be processed just as fast.
