I hate it so much when people ask me "You got married? Why didn't she come back with you to the States?" Idiots, no one knows how completely useless, lazy, and badly-run the USCIS is! And no one understands that we have the worst immigration system in the world! If my wife was from a developed country I would never even think about bringing her to this rotting cesspool we call America!

Seriously I have no idea why someone married to a German, Canadian, or British citizen would want to bring their spouses to live here, this country sucks. If I could get work over there I would move in 1 second and never come back.

I had a comfortable corporate job in my wife's country, and we made the decision to come to the US so I could pursue my doctoral degree. I'll have to admit thanks to the USCIS, we're regretting that decision these days. If we knew it would be like this, I would have never left her, my baby boy, or her country.

! What da hell is wrong with those guys giving priority to people who aren't married while keep those legally married apart for long?

Being apart is being apart. Being legally married doesn't make that any more or less relevant.

Sounds like the same "hope" everyone had for the !!!jest.gif GRAND OPENINGjest.gif !!! of the National Benefits Center, Overland Park. A total letdown and failure of the system. Let the massive transfers, followed by more letdowns begin!

Do you have any idea how many petitions they are dealing with? They can only work so fast. Seriously, why would you call them lazy when they can only work with the resources they have. I'm sure if your NOA2 came in a few months like some others, you would be praising them to high heaven. If this country sucks so much please feel free to leaven and don;t let the door hit you on he way out.

I married a Dutch person and lived over there for 8 years. There are a multitude of reasons why we came back, but the biggest was that my family is all still here in the US. Also, I really couldn't stand most Dutch people anymore, aside from my husband, and I couldn't deal with all the Xenophobic, racist, anti-immigrant bullcrap that I had to deal with every day. It was becoming a very toxic situation for me, and we decided that we wanted to stay married and that was not going to happen if we didn't look after my mental health.

100% what she said.

Every nation has ineptitude. After being away from the US for 10 years, I'm more than willing to take its crappier parts in exchange for being near my family and in a culture that is warmer and kinder than most others I've encountered.

I haven't much looked into UK immigration, but I know it takes a lot less time to bring a spouse over if you make the right amount of cash per year.

Yes, the UKBA is God's gift to the world when compared to the USCIS. They are so fast and efficient. I got my marriage visit visa in one week. It was great.

If it's any comfort at all, a cpl years down the road this will seem like nothing. I'm sure it's been expressed before, but patience, just hang in there, it'll happen.

When you're going through this process it never feels like it will end or "happen". I can't even imagine life with my wife here and once she's here we'll remember this process for a long time because it put our relationship on hold for two years, effectively. The pain will stick with us for a long time coming and I don't believe anything will get better. In fact I believe the process will get longer and things will become permanently worse. It also doesn't help one's psyche when we have a child on the way I won't be able to enjoy for the first year and a half of its life.

Well, you know all applicants are apart form their loved ones and want to be reunited, whether they are fiancés or spouses. Last year this time the fiancé visa route took up to 12 months, just as long or longer than the spousal visas. I understand it is extremely frustrating, but I don't think it I fair to blame K1's for the delay. It is USCIS's mismanagement, not other applicants' faults. Either way, good luck! smile.png

I don't think the person was blaming K-1s, but rather the system for disenfranchising people who are already in a legally binding relationship, but don't get treated with the same processing speed and efficiency as those who aren't. It's very unfair. Yes, we've all heard the stories of the total 12 month processing times for K-1s. But the difference between that and current MASSIVE I-130 backlog is that USCIS actually fixed the problem, whereas now it doesn't seem like they care at all and no end to the backlog is in sight. The current 12-16 months for just an NOA2 for I-130s is here to stay, I'm afraid. Call me pessimistic, but that's the truth. How can you understand how frustrating it is, given the fact that we're already married and we're treated worse than people who aren't married (not saying they're bad, please don't think I am)?

I don't know very much about the CR1 process, but perhaps a reason that it looks like the K-1 takes such a short time because there are multiple steps. We were "approved" in early August, but it's still probably going to be another two months before we get the visa. Not sure if there are similar steps to the CR1, as well... in which case if there are, I'm really sorry sad.png Apparently there are more CR1 applicants than K-1s, which really surprised me! I thought it would be the other way around.

Nope, after the NOA2 is issued it's pretty much the same (minus the fact that CR-1s need to file an AOS. Actually, I think it's shorter for K-1s after they get their NOA2 because they don't spend a lot of time at the NVC from what I've read, and also get to schedule their own interview date, which CR-1s aren't allowed to do. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The NOA2 part is the one that causes CR-1s to be so slow because right now it's taking anywhere from 12-16 months, whereas K-1s are getting their NOA2 in 2-3, it appears. Terrible is an understatement for the current state of I-130s.

I really hate that so many people have the wrong idea about how immigration works and I've been constantly told by family and friends I should do X or Y when that is visa fraud or not possible. I'm glad I picked the fiancé visa but I feel for everyone stuck waiting on spousal visas. It's rediculous!

It's more than ridiculous. It's outrageous and puts so much undue stress on married couples, especially those who have children like my wife and I. Be thankful you went the fiance visa route and aren't being tortured just for trying to bring your spouse to the United States as a tax paying citizen.
