hey i have heard alot of bad things about santo domingo taking a long time for interview dates. i haven't started yet, but iam about to be sending off my I29 paperwork to service centerin texas. i heard california is now handling these cases from the texas service center. i'm not so worried about that time, but from what i heard its almost a year just to wait for interview date. everything i see on timelines is from a long time ago. anyone have any recent info please?

I believe there are some DR people going through the process right now, I would recommend checking out General Discussion area, and checking out the Latin America, Mexico & the Caribbean section under regional discussion to find others going through DR.

To the best of my knowledge it really does take a year from when the embassy gets your papers to schedule an interview for you. They're that backed up.

My fiance is from DR, and we submitted the paperwork in April 2005, our petetion has been with the embassy since July 2005, and we recieved the interview date yesterday. The interview is scheduled for 9 November 2006, so do the math. All I can tell you is just be patient, because the year it takes for this approval is nothing compared to the long life you have ahead.

There is a backlog of nearly 28,000 visas cases awaiting an interview date in the Dominican Republic. :protest:

If you were to be placed on the waiting list today your extimated wait for an interview would be approximately 24 months ..... so long as nothing changes.

Hope you're patient!!! ;)

Good luck!!

Well thank you everybody for answering me. Patience................... well I am being as patience as I possibly can, so dam patience I feel like I am going to collapse from worry and waiting, worry and waiting, worry and waiting, worrying and waiting. The more I wait the more I worry, it's driving me crazy!!!!!!!! But yes I am still patient....lol. I wish I could just stay out there till it was time for the interview. Ok, sorry for the outburst of loosing my mind, but it felt good to just get some of this frustration of my chest, thanks for the replies guys. WJR.

I am in the same boat but like you said Patience is what you need to get you through this ordeal... Also lots of phone cards and frequent trips down there do tend to help out alot.

my fiance is Dominican but he has been living in Italy since 17. Does anyone know if it's possible for him to have his aunt, who is in Santo Domingo, get the Certificado de No Antecedentes Judiciales, or does he really have to go in person to get that certificate?

He needs a cedula (RD ID) in order to get it. Yes, she can do it, but she needs the cedula.
