Hey friends

We are married now for 10 days!!

My wife is from the Philippines...(we live in NY.)...and of course she went thru the medical at St Lukes

SHe has a CD from St Lukes (I will try to take a look at it)

Not sure what other paper documents she has from there

My understanding is that she needs to see a Dr on the list of approved Dr's to have her vaccinations verified

and he will fill out the 693 and put in a sealed envelope

I was warned to be careful of Dr's who try to get you to pay for a full and expensive physical that is not needed

Can someone guide us here? Is it just the vaccinations that need to be verified?

Which ones are required? (I am wondering if he will try to dupe us into more than required just for a fee)

thanks

The CD is of no value, from what I gather it is copies of the x-ray, don't know never looked at the one my wife has.

You have to see a civil surgeon, you can google civil surgeons to get a list of those in your area. The civil surgeon should transcribe the DS-3025 vaccination record that your wife got from SLEC to the I-693. You should not have to get a physical but that doesn't mean some civil surgeon won't nail you for it anyway.

We were lucky and found a civil surgeon that transcribed everything for $40.

Nope the scammers are everywhere... and always ready to bounce.

The I-693 is not required with the I-485 for the K-1, you should be able to use a copy of the DS-3025 vaccination record, but quite often the adjudicator at USCIS doesn't seem to know that either and then you get an RFE for the I-693. Which is why so many on VJ say to just use the I-693.

I had the idea the other day about making a copy of page 4 section 7 ©, highlight it and attach it to the Ds-3025 (to educate the adjudicator at USCIS) to see if that gets things done without issue. But I won't ask anyone to try it. So that brings things back to the I-693

That is exactly what we did! We printed and included this with our 3025:

3. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

a. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or as a

b. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

c. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

(1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination, and the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition, or if you did have a Class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility and have complied with the terms and conditions on the waiver.

(2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit the vaccination record and page 1 of Form I-693.

Our interview is on November 26th. No RFE (yet).

Being you have your interview very shortly and they didn't send an RFE yet you are good to go, they don't do the interview(S - plural as you both get interviewed) until the paperwork is in order. (that is good to know, I may suggest making copies of the instructions more often now)

My wife got her GC about 2 weeks after the interview.

Thanks Hank. We figured so much but it will still be a relief to have the GC in hand! Oh...for those waiting for the appointment letter---the list of required documents in the letter looks overwhelming--until you realize that you have already submitted 90% of what they require! We are bringing a copy of the entire AOS packet along with other things like photos, joint bank account, proof that Joan is my beneficiary on my life insurance, mail delivered to Joan at our address, etc.
