My fiance went for his k1 interview. All went well and the interviewer was nice and professional, he answered all questions without hesitation. My fiance was missing his military record document, which he didn't know was required since he never served in military.

So they asked him to come back with that document a week later. He brought that on Tuesday and they received it and asked him to call back the next day. He called today and they said call back later on in the day that it "wasn't ready". He called back and now they are saying it might be a few more days that they are doing internal processing. They would not tell him whether it was approved or denied. They did collect his passport at the time he delivered the additional missing document. Not sure if I should take this as a good sign?

Does anyone have any idea why they would be delaying, and not giving him the decision? Any advice? We are so stressed out with this delay and no clear indication. Please help. Thanks so much!

I think you are approved and they are processing the additional documents you submitted and your visa will be ready soon good.gif

That and they took his passport so you are probably ok

Relax, the fact that they kept his passport is very promising.

@baron555 and @Janice&Micah - Thank you so much for that reassurance. Part of the reason I got worried is that there was another guy who interviewed at the same time, and he was told on the spot he was approved, and then picked his visa up 2 days later. Since they wouldn't tell my fiance when he called back if he was approved or not, and the delay - well then I took that as a sign of a possible hiccup. I think I am just being paranoid. This process has been incredibly stressful basing your whole life on something that may or may not happen that you have no control over. I'm sure you all understand. Thanks again - HUGS!!

Don't worry, he might be approved, the consular must do his job and his own list of documents he has to see, once your fiancé brings the document he missed he'll receive his visa without problem :) good luck and congrats :)

Thank you very much. He did already bring the document required, delivered it on Tuesday, but they are still making him wait. I guess they just have to get around to the processing. Waiting is so unbearable!! :) Thanks for your kind words.

Update - I received an email response from the consulate. They said the case is undergoing administrative processing that could take 2 weeks up to 6 months. :(

Not the outcome we have been hoping for. I guess we just have to wait. I wish I knew why. Does anyone know if these administrative processes usually end up resulting in approval?

Folks if you have a notion, please send prayers to me and my sweetheart. We have been apart for 1 year, and now it seems it may be even longer. My heart is breaking at this agonizing delay. I just don't know how much more I can suffer through.

He went for his interview in Almaty Kazakhstan on Oct 22. He was missing 1 document, so they asked him to return with it 1 week later. He did so, and also at that time they asked for his passport (which they still have). Told him to call back next day. Next day they said it would be a couple more days, and they would let him know. They would not indicate approved or denied. This was all very confusing as it seems all other cases we read about in his country seem to get approved on the spot and then pick up their visa within 1-2 days.

Now I emailed the consulate to see if I could get more information. They told me that the case is undergoing additional administrative processing, which could take 2 weeks - up to 6 months, They said would contact us when ready.

We provided all documents, and proof - over 30 pics, I visited his country twice in last 6 months - so visas, plane tix, correspondance, skype etc. There is no doubt our relationship is valid. I more than meet the income requirements etc. He was previously in USA on a student visa, and has no records of any issues, no criminal issues etc.

Does anyone have any additional insight here. Does this mean a denial is a possibility? I don't know what to think. This is very very hard to go through. Please pray for us, we truly love each other and just want to build a life together.

This process is difficult to endure for anyone especially when AP becomes part of it. No one will be able to tell you when the AP portion will be over nor the result of that process.

AP can take weeks to months. This doesn't mean they are looking for some evil aspect of his life. Life has changed and that has caused many countries to alter the way they determine who can enter the USA.

My own case took 408 days so I know how this can affect people. You just have to find a way to deal with this. If you think prayer helps then do so.

Yes, denial is still, possible if they find anything in his background that would prevent him from being admissible. No one here can give you an accurate answer as to what or when anything will happen. AP has no timeline, as they said it could be a few weeks, a few months or much longer, no one knows. Best of luck, I understand how you feel, my husband was in AP for 10 weeks, but he has been here for over a year now.

If they took his passport that's a good sign. We had to return info too the embassy on 10/22. Just yesterday 10/31 they touch the case. They have my husband passport and say he was approve but we are still in administrative processing. Since your case went from AP to Ready maybe they getting ready to issue it to you. IJS

Thank you for the positive encourgement! The status on CEAC never changed to AP. Its always said READY. Their email response to my inquiry is what said AP, with the explanation about the timeframe.

I pray that them keeping the passport is a good sign. If they meant to have his case for unknown months perhaps they would have returned or never even requested the passport?

How are you all coping with this? I guess since you are married already then your husband is guaranteed to come? I don't know how that visa scenario works?

Thank you all for your encouragement and support!!!
