Thanks for the tip Jon, I am going to send them an email to see what is going on.

No problem, hopefully that will get them moving. We're relocating overseas very shortly as well, I can appreciate how stressful this must be.

Good Evening,

Allow me to share my status update with the help of the Senator. I'm truly their grateful for a prompt action.

Status update from the Senator Office:

Below is the response our office received from USCIS. Your case is still pending at this time, and the officer does have 120 days to review the file and either make a decision or take further action. USCIS does have a process for expediting cases, but in order to qualify it does have to meet the expedite criteria. I have included the criteria below. Please review it and if you believe your case falls under the criteria, let me know. If not, feel free to follow-up with me after the 120 days if you still have not received a decision on your case.

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. The criteria are as follows:

· Severe financial loss to company or individual

· Extreme emergent situation

· Humanitarian situation

· Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

· Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

· USCIS error

· Compelling interest of USCIS

Actual Response from USCIS to the Senator

Thank you for your May 13, 2014, letter on behalf of your constituent, XXXXXX, regarding his pending N-400 application.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records confirm that Mr. XXXX case is pending at this time. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely and efficient manner while also ensuring public safety, national security and compliance with all relevant directives. While the processing steps for most applications or petitions are completed quickly, a small percentage of cases involve unresolved issues that may result in adjudication delays.

The Officer is given 120 days from the date of the interview to process the N-400 application. In order to have the case expedite, please review criteria for expediting.

We hope this information is helpful. If we may be of further assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Field Office Director

So you sent a letter to your senator immediately after your interview? It looks like you have 120 days to wait for them to make a decision. Unless you have some compelling reason to ask for an expedite - do you think you qualify for one of the reasons they give?

Hey Birdo,

I wish I could met with their “expedite criteria” unfortunately none of them works in my favor. Yeah I’m in touch with the congress person since then when USCIS had cancelled my last interview for an unknown reason. Luckily with the help of US Rep I was rescheduled briskly :) and upon their req, I kept them updated in regards of my interview experience . . .

Thanks for taking your time out to post a feedback because what I notice that some dear members of VJ who are done with their USC journey, apparently they don’t bother communicating with leftover poor fellows.

God Bless America :)

I am still waiting to be scheduled for an oath. I have:

-Submitted a service request through costumer service more than two weeks ago, no answer yet.

-Sent an email to the address provided by Jon last week, no answer yet.

-Contacted the ombudsman, they are also still waiting to hear from my local office.

-Sent a letter to my local office, again no answer yet.

So I am starting to get very desperate. Any advise?

Congrats :) you will receive it on Friday. Mine was sent out on May 19th, but I already know my oath date. If you are super curious and can't wait until Friday, just call up customer service, request a transfer to Tier 2 officer and ask him/her to provide you with your ceremony date, or just wait until Friday. Congrats again :)

Just being curious that on the interview I was asked to repeat the Oath of Allegiance after IO:

  1. Support the Constitution;
  2. Renounce and abjure absolutely and entirely all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which the applicant was before a subject or citizen;
  3. Support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
  4. Bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and
  5. A. Bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; or
    B. Perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; or
    C. Perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law.

Is this something that all of you went thru? I mean since IO knew that he’s not recommending me for the Oath Ceremony yet he esclated my file for “Supervisor Review” Just wondering why would he still conduct such Oath at that stage?

Should I take that incidence as an initial approval from his end? Sorry folks since that day I've been trying to patch up some clues to make my self little comfortable. I hope you would persuade my weirdo situation.

Appreciated.

Awesome!!! The Oath was very special to me.. make it an occasion so you'll remember that day for a long time. I actually bought the day's newspapers, one from Los Angeles and one local one and put them away so I will be able to in the future look at the day I became a citizen and see what was in the headlines that day. :)
