Congrats everyone!

Way to go tadli!

I don't know what the problem is with Pittsburgh.

Still nothing from them since after my interview on Feb 13th

And this is an office that has same day oath. It's real BS.

After almost a month after my interview still not even scheduled for oath.

Am sorry but I just can't understand. I know some people are waiting forever.

But this is an office that conducts same day oath.

And this local office is not busy at all..

Hey Jon any news?

I heard there's one on the 27th or 28th of March.

It will just break my heart if they don't put me on that ceremony like comeon already.

I have an emergency trip in April. How can such a happy ending be so dreadful?????

I am completely with you. We also have not been scheduled, and the interview was on February 3rd - 10 days before yours.

I sent them a (very polite) letter via UPS overnight last Thursday, asking what was going on. Got a voicemail back on Friday, surprisingly. The woman who called said she has my file there, and that there is no problem, and that we would get the oath ceremony letter sometime in March, although she couldn't say precisely when. She stated in her voicemail that I was incorrect that it typically took Pittsburgh only a week or two. I can transcribe the voicemail for you later. My feeling is Pittsburgh has changed something in the last few months, and is holding far fewer oath ceremonies. Just my reading between the lines. Still stressing every day here regardless. Here's the letter we wrote:

Dear Floor Supervisor:

I am writing out of concern over the lack of scheduling for my Oath Ceremony. My interview was February 3, and Ms. XXXX recommended me for approval. On February 7, I received an email that I had been placed in the oath-scheduling queue. Since that time, I have heard nothing, and it has been nearly a month.

It is my understanding that typically Pittsburgh is very fast in getting the oath scheduled – often in less than a week, or at the outside, two weeks. I am wondering if my file has perhaps been mislaid within the office – there were computer issues the day of my interview, as you may recall.

Could you please locate my file and get me scheduled for an oath-taking ceremony in Pittsburgh as soon as possible? It would be very much appreciated. We have travel plans that are on hold while we are waiting for this. Also, there are several county jobs in my area I am interested in applying for, for which I have to be a U.S. citizen.

I would be extremely grateful if you could get me scheduled to take the oath as soon as possible.

Respectfully,

Check out http://www.trackitt.com/usa-immigration-trackers/n400

You can filter by field office and it shows current times for your office. At least Portland does same day oaths, so once you finally get your interview date, it will also be your Oath date!!! :)

Thanks Birdo;

I checked the link and observed the trend. Seems like Portland has same day interview and oath. Once again thank you.

Hi everyone,

I just want to share my interview experience today at downtown, Chicago. Due to heavy traffic, I got to the USCIS building 30 minutes after my scheduled interview. I was worried that they won't let me in since I was a little late. But, the officer was so nice and told me that it was fine and he let me in. I went straight to the registration area - located on first floor of the building. When I got there I was told that the fingerprint system was down. The guy/officer who works there told me to go straight to my interview (3rd floor) and just come back for my registration afterwards. I went there and was called for my interview less than 15 minutes later. The officer made me raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. She also asked me for my interview letter, driver's license, green card, and my passport. And then she started my interview with the civic test which I all answered correctly. She told me that I passed that part. Below are the questions the officer asked me.

1. What is one promise you make when you become a United States Citizen?

- Give up loyalty to other countries

2. Who is your State Governor?

- Pat Quinn

3. Who was the first president?

- George Washington

4. What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

- Civil Rights movement

5. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

- New York Harbor

6. Name two national U.S. holidays?

- Christmas Day and Labor Day

The officer then test my writing and speaking skills in English, and I passed both. Then asked some basic questions like 'What's your birthday?', What's your address?' etc. The officer then asked me to verify that all info in the form she filled up was correct - I think those information will be shown in my naturalization certificate. However, she told me that she could not approve my application since I haven't registered downstairs. Then she advised me to either come back and register or wait until the system comes back up. I was already there so I decided to go back on 1st floor and learned that one of the two systems is up and running. The line was kindda long so it took me at least 20 minutes to finish this process - registration, fingerprint (L and R index finger), and picture. I then went back upstairs to return/ give my interview letter. I was told that I should get a letter within 2-3 weeks for my oath schedule.

Overall, my interview experience did not take long and it was not hard as I thought it was going to be. Now, I just need to wait for that letter and my journey as permanent resident will come to an end after almost 6 years of living here in the US.

Congratulations, title2013IL!!!

So, you had your biometrics done on the same day of the interview? Is that pretty standard in some offices? I am asking because my mom, who is also applying for naturalization, is still waiting for her biometrics. It's been two months already.

Yeah I was super stress! All I could think about was worst case scenario - they would turn me away and that I had to re-schedule my interview. And also thinking that I should have given myself ample amount of time for this interview, like you said.

But I am really glad that they did not give me a hard time and passed my interview.

Good luck with your interview on Wednesday.

Thanks! I'm sorry I must have confused you with my previous post. I did my biometrics on December 2013. I was talking about the registration process prior to my interview (but since I was late I had to do it after) wherein they printed me using my L and R index fingers and took my picture. I believe that is part of the interview process.

Wow two months and you haven't heard anything regarding her biometrics? That is kindda long because I remember being scheduled for mine in less than a month. Perhaps, your office is taking longer than mine to process N-400. Hopefully, your mom will get hers scheduled soon.

Congratulations, title2013IL!!!

Hi again!

LOL yeah, I was a little confused. I know what you mean now :) Mine was the same a month ago. I was so nervous I forgot what my index finger was! HAHA! But everything turned out great and my oath taking is on March 28! So excited! Just helping my mom with her process now. Weird that it is taking her so long to get fingerprinted.

Hi,

My experience in Chicago was similar, I arrive on time, went to the first floor and could not get my biometrics since the system was down so I went to the third floor, wait for my turn 15 minutes and went inside with my IO.

These were the questions:

-We elect a senator for how many years?

-If the president and vice-president can no longer serve who will be in charge?

-How many justices are there in the supreme court?

-Name one branch of the government.

-What happened in the declaration of independence?

-What does the cabinet do?

-I was asked to read "What country is the south of the US?" and to write "Mexico is south of the US"

I passed, we went through my N-400, I amended it with a speeding ticket, everything went ok and was given the "congratulation" note.

Now I have a question, how long until I am put "in queue for oath"?

Posted

Congrats! Hmmm I was just given a verbal 'congratulations'. The officer ticked the 'A decision cannot yet be made - pending SIT/CIV registration' box instead of 'Congratulations....'

You could call and ask to speak with a Second Tier officer. I did that back in January when I had no change in status online after Biometrics at all. Looks like you should be coming up on getting at least the interview date if you look on this handy little tool and filter to Louisville office.

Thank you Birdo.I should have received the interview letter in february… it will come hopefully soon.

I just got an email saying that I am scheduled for an oath ceremony. Yehey

Congratulations, I have not gotten anything yet.

Hopefully my speeding ticket won't be an issue, the IO told me it shouldn't be but I am a little bit paranoid.

Posted

Thanks! Perhaps they would schedule us the same time since we were interviewed same day.

I was actually a little paranoid last night when you said you got the 'congratulations' note and mine was 'a decision cannot be made'. I wasted my energy thinking about it just to get an email this morning that I'm scheduled for an oath ceremony. So, don't waste your time overthinking things and just relax. Besides, I will take the officer's word for it that it should not be an issue.

Congratulations, I have not gotten anything yet.

Hopefully my speeding ticket won't be an issue, the IO told me it shouldn't be but I am a little bit paranoid.
