Greetings All,

Just a quick and a silly question that raised in my mind that what if someone during his/her half journey to Interview he happens to fly overseas?, what impact will it bring on the case ? Let’s say is it fusible for an applicant to put his case on hold till he gets back to States? Did anyone experience a weirdo scenario like this before? Don't hesitate to drop your line for me smile.png

Regards

People do go out of the country during the application process. If you have to reschedule your interview, it will just delay your becoming a citizen so no big deal there (unless of course they don't get your rescheduling notice etc...) But if you don't have to reschedule because your trip is not that long or not during the same time as your interview then there's no impact. But you will have to let the interviewing officer know that you've taken a trip outside the U.S.

Two scenarios:

1) If you got the interview letter then you can always ask for reschedule. It will just delay your application

2) If you got the interview letter and you miss it then the application will be considered abandoned and you have to start all over again

Hey! I forgot to ask you, after you waited 45 minutes, how long did the actual interview take? I noticed the letter says about 2 hours. Just wondering how accurate that was.

Congrats again!

I was mentally prepared for 2 hours, but the actual interview time for me was just 15 minutes. So it wasn't bad at all. It probably does vary though based on whether the examiner has gone over your application, has some additional questions/clarifications/evidence he needs etc.

AOS timeline:

1st March 2010 - AOS packet received at Chicago (I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765)
9th March 2010 - Checks cashed
12th March 2010 - All 4 NOA's received
19th March 2010 - Applications touched biggrin.png
19th March 2010 - Received Biometrics letter for 2nd April
2nd April 2010 - Biometrics done
19th April 2010 - Received interview letter for May 21st biggrin.png
6th May 2010 - All applications touched. Status of I-765 changed to document production, status of I-131 changed to post decision activity.
10th May 2010 - Received approved AP in mail
21st May 2010 - AOS Interview, IO said he will approve the case... waiting for Green card smile.png
27th May 2010 - Received EAD card
17th June 2010 - Approval notice for I-130 received. Also received "Welcome to USA" letter biggrin.png
28th June 2010 - Finally received my GC.... Praise be to God smile.png

16th March 2012 - Sent ROC package
21st March 2012 - NOA1 date

Apparently that's pretty normal although not everyone gets that.

Just bring whatever they're asking for even though you may already have submitted it!

I suggest you bring originals and copies, and give them copies unless they ask to see originals.

Well that's nice! Yes, you're definitely right that it depends on the examiner, etc.

Thanks!

Hi, all. I was just peeking at a few timelines from earlier-than-us filers to see where we stand (just mailed package this week). What does "in line" mean for a naturalization filer? Since it looks like the whole process generally takes less than a year, what anniversarry date are you guys talking about?

These are the various steps in N-400 process

Anniversary is the either the 3 year(by marriage) or 5 years completion from the date you became a Permanent Resident according to your green card

Let me explain the various stages below

|Eligible|Sent....|ChkCashd|NOA.....|Fprints.|In-line |Int Ltr.|Intview.|Oath....|FieldOffice

1)The eligible date is either 3 year or 5 year -90 days when you can send N-400 else it will be rejected

2) Sent - the date you sent your n-400 package to uscis along with the check

3) Chkcashed is when it got cashed

4) NOA - is the application priority date. You will get it from USCIS once they accept your application

5) FPrints - after they accept they will send another mail with the bio-metric appointment letter. This is the appointment date for the same

6) After finger printing you be moved to inline for interview(how long you stay in this stage depends on your local office speed) Also if you filed 90 days earlier than your anniversary then you won't move to this stage till you are just anniversary - 30 days

7) Int Ltr is when you get the interview appointment letter from USCIS

8) Interview is your interview appointment date

9) After interview you will move to oath schedule queue and then they will schedule your oath. You fill in your oath date here

10) Field office is your local field office

In general the process takes 4-5 months in average even if you file 90 days before your anniversary.

Quick question - I received the yellow letter and it only asks that I bring my driver's license - which feels a little light for me. Should I bring anything else, just in case?

Same goes for my wife...
