Hi everyone. I am confused by the above posts about eligibility date. What does that mean?. That if you filed within the 90 days before your actual anniversary date comes up your case won't be process any faster?.

I ask because i filed exactly on the first date that my window of eligibility opened for me. I figured, the sooner i file, the sooner it will go through the process. Am i mistaken? Can someone please elaborate further?. I am a December filer BTW.

You are not mistaken.

Also i was mistaken about having an eligibility date. For 319(b) filers the eligibility date or window is no earlier than 45 days of departing overseas, if you arent overseas already. If you are already overseas you may request your own dates for the interview (obviously leaving enough time for the background investigation stuff)and they will do their best to accomodate. Being overseas is probably faster, but the only hassle is you have to come back to the US for your interview and oath, though i know a couple of people who requested it be done at an embassy overseas and it was granted..

It will still be faster than filing after the anniversary. You can get your fingerprinting done. But you case won't move to "Inline for Interview" till you are month away from the actual anniversary. The interview will be only after you complete the 3 year or 5 year. For these cases there is no point doing an early biometric walk in as it is not going to help much. And if you field office is the quick ones then you interview will be right after you complete 3/5 years so it is def. faster than filing after you complete 3/5 years.

I see. Thanks.

Well, my anniversary will be February 28, 2014. So you are saying in January i should be moved to "online for interview"? , but that the actual interview won't be until probably March?.

Yes. You will be moved to inline on Jan 28th 2014. Now I see that your local office is Miami. Right now Miami is close to 2 to 2.5 months behind. I am inline from sept 26th and still no date yet for interview. So calculate roughly two months from Jan 28th which is March 28th when you might get a letter. From the letter to interview is a month away so maybe interview in April 28th.

I hope you get your interview letter really soon. As long as i have mine done before July, i am ok with that timeline. Since my ROC took 7 months,Naturalization doesn't feel that long if it is only 4-5 months.

My anniversary is December 27th, and on November 27th I was placed in line and got scheduled the same day. Exactly one month before my anniversary. I Judy for my interview letter today. I guess every office has it's own pace. Good luck to both of you.

Well, did my BIO today. Easy as pie! I got there at 7:30am and explained to them that I was early because I needed to go to work by 9am, and they were totally cool with it. In and out in 15 minutes!

Ok finally got some real news about my returned packet. The mail room said they mailed it out on 27 November. The officer is trying to see if they put a tracking number on it and is going to call me back. If i knew they didnt mail the packet out the same day when they get sent back then someone could have just walked to the mail room the first time i called on monday (25 Nov) and just picked it up.....so my packet sat in the rejected pile for almost a week....by mistake......Using the USPS estimator a 1lb letter size package takes 7 days to ship from nebraska to my zip code. Taking Thanksgiving into account that would be today or tomorrow....... Please if your religious everyone pray i get it today.... so i can mail it back and it get there on monday.

At least they've mailed it and you'll probably receive it today.

I did my biometrics in Riverside CA yesterday. Got there about 40 mins early because I left early so if there was any traffice situations on the freeways, I would have some time to get through them. No problem at all. Also for reference to someone who might need to know for the future: it seems as though the Riverside ASC does indeed take walk-ins, I heard the lady at the front ask one person if they had an appointment and he replied no, and she said no problem just wait a few minutes and he did get in. Another person was there two hours early and she took him at the same time into the waiting room. 15 mins later I was out the door. :) They gave me the Civics lessons booklet and CD without asking.

OK. So now I panicked again. I apparently did not read the part of the instructions on how to sign the N400... So I signed with my usual scribble. They have not sent it back so hopefully it's not a problem.

But how should I sign the N400 when I go to the interview? With my full First Middle Last name and in cursive so it's legible? Or the same scribble way I signed the first time? OMG why oh why...
