Since I am still in queue to get an Oath Ceremony since 03/17 and there are several ceremonies per week in Chicago and a least one per month where I live I called again today to costumer service, this time a tier 1 officer filled a service request, and told me that I will be contacted within two weeks about my oath ceremony. Hopefully this will be resolved shortly.

Hi all just wanted to update you guys about my ceremony and passport application experience. I had my oath ceremony on Friday at the Salt Lake City Office. We were there at 7:30 am the ceremony started at 8am. There were 30 of us becoming citizens, there were supposed to be 31 but one didn't show up. Everything was very nice and short. The supervisor had us choose between a long boring speech or a nice short one. lol of course we choose the short one. We were done by 8:30. They did too make us sing the I'm proud to be an American song.

So, I really needed to go back to Thailand quick so I made an appointment at the colorado passport agency. It's also great because I get to visit my best friend. So, I left the SLC office around 9am made it to the airport to catch my 11am flight. I arrived in Denver at 12:30 and got to the passport agency at 1:15! Wow, I thought I was not going to make it for my appointment at 1:30. They were extremely easy going, nice and fast. You just had to pay a $60 expedite fee just like you would pay for the regular expedite. I handed in my passport application around 1:25 and got my passport at 2:15! That has got to be some record. The edges of my passport is still sharp it can definitely give someone a paper cut haha. I'm just so grateful that everything works out. Now I can finally relax. Thank you all and good luck!

I just came back from my interview for U.S. citizenship (N400) everything went great; I answered all the questions correct, there were no issues, IO went thru each and every single column of N-400 app, also verified entries on my passports and then he manually added my recent overseas trip, after that officer gave me a “Review form” to verify my personal contact details on a sheet (I said it looks good) then asked me to sign on my snaps also n-400 app afterwards he handed over N652 form with following checked box:

B) A decision can’t yet be made about your application.

  • Notify USCIS if you change your add
  • Come to any scheduled interview.
  • Submit all requested docs
  • Send any questions about this application in writing to IO.
  • Go to any Oath Ceremony that you are scheduled to attend.
  • Notify USCIS as soon as possible in writing if you can’t come to any scheduled interview or Oath Ceremony. Include a copy of this paper and a copy of the schedule notice.

Before leaving he said do you have any question I’m like I do but it’s applicable to ask at this situation I'm like WHEN IS A NEXT OATH DATE ;) He’s like I can’t tell you because supervisor needs to review your file first! I then I asked him how long this might take ? he gave me his standard proceeding timeframe 120 days straight up I told him that I know it's gona take for ever because I never had a good luch with immigration prcoess !

Anyway fox, what do you think where do I stand? See I couldn’t cherish passing this interview moments due to creepy “decision can’t be made”? Nevertheless your positive feedback will bring a little smile on my face :)

Roughly how long this may take ?

Regards

It doesn't sound like there is much of a reason to worry - maybe in your field office the supervisor has to review the application if anything was changed. So because the officer entered the details of your recent overseas trip, they have to take an extra step to make sure you are still eligible and didn't go over the allowed days. Or something like that.

Check online your status and it will change to Oath Scheduling Que soon. In my case it took over a week to change the status to the Oath Scheduling Que even though my application was "recommended for approval" at my interview. So don't panic... It will all be fine.

I received my passport exactly 20 days after I applied for it at our local post office here in Lawrence, KS. I did not use the expedited service since I wasn't planning on leaving the country any time soon. It was a bit nervewracking to submit the original naturalization certificate with the passport application, but the Post Office official handling the process in Lawrence was kind enough to keep reassuring me that the certificate will be fine. She even made a copy of it for me. I was very surprised to have received my passport just shy of 3 weeks since sending the application in. The certifcate came in a separate first class envelope a day later.

It's been over a month since I was sworn in as a brand new American citizen. I certainly do believe that Visa Journey and the folks on this specific topic helped me in my journey. I can't thank you all enough. Congratulations to everyone!

You might feel considerably less excited when you get called for jury duty and have to, for anywhere from 1 to a large number of days, serve for $5.00 a day.

I always try to let people know, if you don't register to vote, you can't be called for jury duty. Just saying….

Yes, that's the risk I'm taking and knowingly since in my area everyone gets called about once per year. Hubby just went last week and after two days of wasted time argued his way out of being an alternate juror for a two week personal liability scam case.. But it's worth it to me! Voting is extremely important.

Well, it used to be, before the Supreme Court and rigged voting machines started deciding elections.
