My husband arrived in the US in January on a K-1 visa, we got married within a few days and have already filed for his green card. We recently received the "potential interview waiver" letter. We only applied for the green card and the EAD card. He has the EAD card but now needs to fly to Brazil so he needs the AP card. How do we go about applying for it? Do we need to pay for it? Will he have to go for biometrics again? Thanks for your help!

You need to file an I-131 application for travel. If you send in your receipt from your AOS there should be no charge

It's free. But it may take up to 3 months to get (though some people who've already done biometrics have gotten it sooner). He should have applied for it with everything else; have would have it already (it usually comes on a combo card with the EAD if you apply for both).

You can file now and the fee is still waived because you have a pending I-485. You need to include a copy of the I-797C receipt notice from filing the I-485. There are no biometrics for AP. It will take 2-3 months to receive.

There is no such stamp for an AOS applicant. AP is the only way. Since you applied for it separately it will not be a card, but 2 pieces of paper.

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

2/06/13: APPROVED!
