Is this normal for I-130 processing?

I am a USC and I am filing for my mom last March of this year and the recent status was:
Initial Review:

On October 29, 2013, we transferred your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

IS THAT NORMAL THAT LONG? DOES THAT REVIEW NORMAL. THANKS!!!!

Hi, can anyone might have an answer why our case is under interview and testing phase since August 6th?

Married April, 2013

Filed I130, I131, I765, I485 June 1,2013 (NBC)

Notice Date of receipt June 10,2013

Biometrics July 2, 2013

RFE received July 2, 2013

RFE sent July 12, 2013

I131 and I765 approved on August 6, 2013

I130 is with current status "initial review"

I485 changed to testing and interview phase on August 6, 2013 and no information or letter for interview since than...(almost three months have passed by since it changed into testing and interview phase)

Can anyone tell me what processing dates I should be looking at, filled in NBC but do not know if I should be looking the processing dates for the filed office for the I485 or the NBC processing dates.

Does I130 need to be approved first than you receive any notification for I485 or the next step would be I485 interview and than I130 gets approved....I am very confused about it.

Also, is it normal to be that long in the testing and interview phase (almost three months and no notification date for interview date?

Hi all,

Check this link out

http://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/workload-transfer-national-benefits-center-service-centers

USCIS is transfering I-130 cases over to TSC, NSC & CSC. Even tho it says local office, IT WILL NOT BE YOUR LOCAL OFFICE, it is just going to another USCIS office for faster processing, which to me sounds awesome ! they will send you a letter saying where it was transferred to.

good Luck everyone !! :)

Waiting to file...

ya, the online status system has some data error.

It's not going to a local office, it's going to another Service Center.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Our petitions getting sent to another service center, where they will sit stagnant is what we I-130 petitioners call "exciting". Well, USCIS set the bar pretty low, so I guess that's how it is now. Still nothing but silence from our transferred files.

Has it been more than 60 days from your transfer?? If so, call USCIS.

The Notice that we get in the mail for the transfer says that we should hear from them again within 60 days & if not to contact them to see what's going on. To me, this is better than not getting any notice at all and not even knowing what's going on with my cases.

I wholeheartedly agree that this is better, and I suppose that had I received that letter, I might feel something akin to excitement as well.

I'm going to use the "H" word. I hope USCIS really follows through on this one, unlike field offices and Overland Park. I fear that we will just watch the weeks turn into months once again, with little progress.

Hello !

I am so new at all this, but thanks to whoever answer my question.

I want to claim my parents to come from Cuba. Both of my parents were recently denied the visa to come and visit, therefore, Now I want to claim them because I am an US citizien. Do you think that I can do both of their application together? Will I be charged for both of them separately?

Also how long does the whole process takes?

Thanks in advance !

Tourist visa denial doesn't matter.

Yes, you can file for both of them at the same time as long as you have enough income to sponsor them. The applications are separate. The fees are separate. At this time I-130 takes up to a year to get approved. And then 4-5 months to the interview.
