i've schlubbed a pc in my luggage before. just the pc, not the keyboard or mouse or monitor.

What I did - make cardboard covers that slipped on top of each corner, then taped it to the PC. So, any TSA agent looking can see it's a PC without having to remove the corner covers.

Plus the cardboard corner covers protect the machine, a bit.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You can and you are allowed to. I would suggest putting the HDD/SSD in your carry-on.

I took my hardware including monitor with but left the tower behind. It saved me quite some space/weight in a suitcase.

ya, mostly when I travel -

I take a drive , carefully padded, in my carry on.

Then whatever computer I want to use it on, I mount it as a secondary drive.

Sure, it means none of the programs on the drive work, but I'm a data hound, and most of disks contain data for my prior remote work.

Mounting it as a 2nd disk always works, I have full access to my files.
