On 25th October 2013, we finally got approval on my Immigration Visa. I collected my passport on 29 October and cried a little - who knew a tiny piece of paper could cause so much emotional turmoil? We officially leave for the US on 20 Dec 2013.

I wanted to start this forum because I realised our progress didn't really fit in the timeline and I wanted to reach out to any Singaporeans who may have any questions at all. Not knowing is really the worse.

Thank you to all the active VJers who have posted information up - it has been incredibly helpful for my husband and I. We haven't been very active on here but would like to contribute where we can.

Hey!! Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you and slightly envious!!! :)

Do you have a timeline in which I can see how your K1 Visa progressed?

Me and my fiancee only just got our NOA1 on Oct 21st and the whole idea of having to wait is already killing us, we detest bureaucracy :(

How did your medical check up go? From what I researched, there's only one certified doctor?

Thank you everyone!!

@amirahharith no worries! I'm still happy to answer any questions that you may have though, there aren't too many Singapore VJers out there and any information always helps. If anything, it's something to do to kill the waiting time. Yes, there is only one certified Doctor in Singapore and it gets really crowded.

From what I've seen looking through the forums, if you have the time, you might be better off getting your vaccinations at a local clinic first, then going for your checkup. It's crazy expensive - I think I spent over SGD400 because I had to get four vaccinations. Of that it included chicken pox, mumps and measles, flu and tuberculosis vaccinations. Not to mention the blood and urine test, that's one you HAVE to do there.

Let me know how else I can help. The process seems incredibly stressful because of the unknowns, but looking back, it's not really that bad. Hang in there, it gets better.

Congratulations ! Whatcha eating, to celebrate? I am big fan of curry laksa, hokkien mee, or fish-head curry (not all at the same time, la)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
