Hi everyone, I need your help if anyone knows the answer to my question here. I have my best friend who had approved of a K-1 visa, she is planning to travel USA next month. Her fiance is in Dallas, but she asked the permission of her fiance to stop over first in Seattle (to where I live now) to stay for two weeks with us here before she will fly to Dallas and they will get married there in Dallas. Her port of Entry in San Francisco from Manila. Upon arrival in San Francisco she will then will fly to Seattle and stay here for two weeks before going to Dallas. Now my question is, is this okay for a K-1 visa entering San Franciso and will fly to Seattle before going to the place of her fiance in Dallas? Please we need your help. Thank you and God bless!

She can PoE wherever she wishes, provided it's on the list of CBP ports of entry: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/

Yes, she's okay to do so. Those cities are still in US mainland and she can use any of Port of Entry.

Certainly sounds odd, very odd.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It does sound strange, but once they're past immigration in the US, they should be able to travel freely without anyone asking questions. I mean, logically speaking.

I see it being no different than taking a bus/train from the airport to your final destination. Once you're in the country, you're in, unless your visa expires or you really screw something up with the law.

What so strange or odd about taking a side trip before going to her final destination?

Surely, it's not unusual for a person who is immigrating to the US to stop and visit with friends or family from the old country before going to marry and live with her USC.

Thank you so much for your help. She was just afraid if that is okay to do so as a K-1 visa because we are inviting her to attend our daughter's 1st birthday here in Seattle. And it cost a lot if she will fly directly to Dallas and have another round trip ticket from Dallas to Seattle ($1,187). And her fiance found a ticket which is cheaper if she will fly Manila to San Francisco ($594) then San Francisco to Seattle and Seattle to Dallas ($197) after two weeks. In which this is a lot cheaper than the first route.

Yeah, I was wondering also why they said that too. I was seeking help here but some they just have to comment with your post instead of helping. But that's is okay. Thank you
