I am sure you have more experience since you are supporting one... smile.png

Actually, I happened to grow up in one and quite actively participated in toppling it. Which is why I can confidently say that you have not a first damn clue what you're talking about. You're really just parroting the paranoid right wing echo chamber.

When they only report what admin wants them to report, they only cover that admin wants them to cover and in return admin awards them for being loyal to admin is no different than communist regime.

Are you suggesting that media has no moral responsibility and no role in democracy?

Hum humunah?

The free press's role in democracy is that it permits a free exchange of ideas in print. Some of those ideas are good, some are bad. That's it. You can call Obama the Kenyan and it is not illegal. That is free press. Not a moral responsibility, no.

There is no evidence, not a shred, that these people got their jobs for being "loyal" or participating in anything. Your view of the press seems to be culled from ####### Tracy cartoons or something, where beat reporters print a story to the Daily Planet and it gets printed with no editors. These people got hired to do jobs that journalists do.

I tried to find a figure for previous administrations, and all I found was a slew of right-wing blogs making an issue of this number (which they put at 15, not 21, btw). The lack of context in these stories tells me that this is a made-up issue. No one seems to have or cite any previous numbers of journalism jobs for previous administrations. None of these sources explain anything, maybe these people kept getting jobs and then quitting them, accounting for high turn around. Maybe this is a perfectly normal number of journalists to hire per administration. We don't know. your news articles don't know. The fact that this was never a figure that the media paid attention to makes this issue smell bad and fake.

I still think you need some White Castle.

I presented number from one side, if you claim same has happened in past why don't you show the numbers?

I just read Harpa's post, which kind of highlights what I am trying to tell you. You say this number is high, yet no one can produce numbers from past

administrations. How can you claim this is a high number when, as far as I can tell, no one even started paying attention until now?

As Harpa said he came across article that said 15, here is another article from Atlantic wire that says 24 - number vary a bit coz some of them worked for admin and then left so denpending on how the source is the count is little different.

And at least one of them included in the 24 count actually started working for the federal government in 2007 and still works there. But that's not really the point. You still haven't come up with comparative figures as to how many people left the media to work for the federal government prior to Obama becoming president. We know from the article you linked to that there'a at least one but more likely, there are more. So maybe 24 is actually a small number comparatively speaking. And maybe it is not. Without a baseline it's hard to judge this one way or the other, isn't it?

Lot of the folks who watch these things more closely suggest that this is a trend current admin has been following, reward the journalist who helped in promoting admin ideology.

So you don't know whether more and less people have changed jobs from the media into the federal government under Obama. You do not know. That's all you need to say. No use in trying to cloud that simple fact with all that smoke you blow.

This is painful. I'll try it a different way:

So the number is 24? Got it. However, there are no numbers from prior administrations, so to say it's a high number is a reach at best. There could have been 5 or 50 folks working for Bush, Clinton, etc. No one thought it was important enough to keep count before, yet now there's this uproar about 24 working for Obama. Is there a standard count for journalists working for each administration? If there is, it would clear this whole thing up.

Look, I haven't made any claim that Obama has hired more personnel from media sources than other Presidents have. Thus, I don't need to provide any numbers. You have made it a big deal and yet, you do not even know whether the Obama administration did in fact hire more media personnel into the government than other adimistrations. You simply don't know but you're running your mouth about it. Bring it or shut it.

I know its painful when you cannot justify that previous admin did anything similar.

It is a very common tactics which Obama supporter have use......see previous admin did it but in this case you cannot say that so it has to be painful.
