Once I have applied and hopefully successfully acquired citizenship I would like to petition for both my parents.

Once I have filed I130s for each of my parent and they are approved, they obviously will need to adjust status.

Now I probably dont make enough to sponsor them but they have assets and a modest income. Can they Self sponsor or co sponsor themselves? Or would I be better just finding a Co sponsor her in the US?

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Are they in the US on a different visa hence adjust status?

If they are in the UK waiting for the IR5 visa, there's no "adjustment of status" that's going to happen. Once they enter the US using the IR5 visa, they will automatically get 10-year green cards.

Ahhh thanks. I have not really got a handle on this process yet.

Yes, they are outside the US.

Can you help explain how it works.

I petition from them via I-130 (one for each of them). If all goes well they go to the London embassy for an interview and probably a doctors appointment. If that goes well what happens next?

Their visas are issued; the end.

Upon entry to the US using their immigrant visas they automatically become permanent residents and will receive their green cards in the mail within ~30 - 60 days.

All right. After a quick read, I see how the process goes now. It appears to be straight forward but like all USCIS processes, it appears to be a waiting game.

A slight modification to the original question tho. As I will fall short (by about $9000) to meet the 125% poverty level on the I864 can I use a co-sponsor?

And secondly do I have to fill out two I864s with two $88 fees or just one I864 for both parents?

Oh and one more.

Is my income Gross or adjusted gross income I use on the I864.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

well, that's income for now, today, circa 2013.

What will your income look like when they have their interviews at the IV Unit ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

2 applicants two fees, as a matter of interest you appreciate they will be paying full whack under Obamacare?

The parents will receive free medical under Obamacare...? Or Medicaid will pay for some.

My understanding is that as LPRs they won't be entitled to medicaid, but will get tax credit to health insurance under the ACA. I have made them more than aware of health insurance here. We are moving off topic, but thanks all for helping me out.

So they will be working in the US, sorry I assumed they were retired.

For 2 people age 70 in my ZIP, the premiums vary between $1,026 and $2,684. Plus of course co pays, deductibles etc.

With UK income, double taxation agreements etc hope they are good with a calculator!
