Hi! Good day to all....

I just wanna ask what is/are the procedure/s in getting the Social Security Number (SSN) after arrival in the US? And when

to apply for it?

Employment Authorization Card (EAD) Received: 06/28/2014

Social Security Name Changed To Married Name: 7/23/2014

2 Years Green Card Received : 4/01/2015

Report Of Marriage Philippines Consulate New York through

Outreach Program in Needham MA : 4/25/2015

MA Drivers License/Road Test Passed: 10/31/2015

Got A Job At United States Postal Service: December 2016

N400 Sent/Applied: 4/19/2018

N400 Biometrics: 5/17/2018

 

2 Years Green Card  Received: 4/01/2015

EAD/AP Received: July 09, 2014

SSN Change Name: July 12, 2014

Received Interview Waiver Case Letter for AOS: August 2014

2 yrs GC Received: April 10, 2015

Lots of good info here, follow the links provided. One thing, most guides say to wait 14 days after POE then go to the SSN office to apply. We waited 8 days and went to our local office and my fiancee was in the database already. She was able to get her card in her maiden name right away.

Like others have said here, get your card early and it will make things like taxes, state ID, job hunting, banking etc MUCH easier.

After you marry changing the name on the card is a snap.
