I've occasionally read here that people suggest bringing copies of all the documentation used to apply for the original K-1 visa to the AOS interview, as well as copies of the documentation sent for the AOS application. Before lugging a forest worth of paper to our interview on Thursday, I wanted to clarify whether the K-1 docs really need to be brought along.

Also, when bringing things to "prove" our relationship...should we just bring things current since my husband arrived here on his K-1, or also bring evidence used when we applied for the K-1 (my phone records from when he was still in Turkey, photos from when I visited him there, etc.)?

I'm thinking we should need just copies of the AOS application documents and evidence of our relationship since he came here and we got married...but if previous stuff would be helpful or even required, we want to be ready.

Thanks :innocent:

Bring the K-1 docs that you received from immigration/consulate -- any receipts, approval notices, etc. I don't think you need to bring the K-1 forms or evidence you submitted -- that ship has sailed, that decision has already been made, you've already been granted the K-1.

Re: the AOS docs -- since you submitted photocopies of everything when you sent in your AOS packet, you should bring all the ORIGINALS. Just in case they want to look at the original.

Re: evidence of your marriage -- bring things that show your comingled finances and some pictures or letters to show that other people know you as a couple. It should be from the time that you got married to the present time.

From the very beginning, I filed all the notices/receipts we received and all the copies of paperwork/forms we filled out in chronological order in page protectors in a binder. It was pretty compact, so I took that with us, along with all the evidence/documents we required for the AOS interview itself, organized in another separate binder. it worked out quite well for us, and I knew where to find things without fumbling around for them during the interview.

As far AOS evidence is concerned, you want to bring evidence that your relationship is ongoing and that you share a domicile. this can be acheived with a number of different things -- look through other AOS related threads where this is talked about. :)

PS. make sure that you make copies of all your original documents of AOS evidence, so the adjudicator can keep them (if wanted) for your file.

I brought along my folder of K1 documents, with the original NOAs and NVC letter right at the top, although our interviewing officer never asked to see them. I left my K1 evidence folder at home.

For evidence of our marriage, we had photo albums, e-mails, as well as originals and copies of joint bills, joint bank account statements, and his life insurance policy that showed I am the direct beneficiary.

All the best at your interview. :)
