Naina,

Did you get the passport with the visa the same day? If not, how long did it take you?

I heard they have been putting people on AP.

No, I didn't. They said I'll get my passport in 7 days. I'm really hoping to receive it soon Insha'Allah.

Putting people on AP after approval?

Does anyone have an idea as to how long it actually takes to receive your passport after getting approved?

Thanks!

Thanks Samreen. Don't worry, you'll be done with the whole procedure before you know it Insha'Allah. :-) My case is different from yours, so the requirements would be different too.

So I being the beneficiary doesn't need the original documents with me right? I gave them to my husband when he was leaving for US and I was confused if I have to send them to NVC or can he mail it? Cuz I just have the copy of my marriage and birth certificate and he has originals

That's right. Your spouse would send the originals to NVC.

Choosing agent is now done online at NVC stage. Additionally, you send documents to NVC and take supporting documents to embassy for your interview. There are civil documents and financial documents that you send to NVC.

For those of you that have gone through the interview stage at Islamabad Embassy. What exactly did you take for the interview? I visited my wife over the summer (how can we use this as evidence? Pictures?) and got my daughters CRBA done and approved, shouldn't that be enough? What other forms of evidence did you guys take?

Also just out of curiosity, how does one know they have been approved for the visa? I mean the people that get put into AP, do they find out during the interview stage?

You can use your entry and exit stamps on your passport, boarding cards, and pictures together as evidance that you were together.

Once you receive your passport with visa stamp, you know that you are done.

Thanks once again bro!

Another question...really has me stumped

I seem to have to run into a problem..on the I-864, where it asks if you have any dependent children, I have a daughter but she was born overseas and is with my wife (but through CRBA, she has her US Passport, she was born this year). I don't file taxes, my parents claim me. I put on the I-864 that I do claim her, but again I don't file taxes. She has never been in the US yet. Only thing that is now paranoying me on completing AOS package. I don't know whether to write her as a dependent, because she has never been claimed on a tax return yet.

Do you guys think this will cause any issues?

I would recommend that you put your daughter as a dependant because she is even if you don't file taxes under your name. If you want, you can write a statement on the cover letter with explaination.

They use it to calculate if you are able to support your dependants after they come to the US.

The permanent residency card will be automatically be mailed to the mailing address provided in the US, once your spouse enters the country. From the interview she will receive a package that she gives the immigration officer at the port of entry (package has a seal and the SEAL should not be broken).

For SSN: If you selected on your immigration application to get your ssn card then once your wife enters the country the ssn card will automatically be mailed to you, should receive it in 4-6 weeks. If you didn't select it, you can apply for one here:http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/help_immigrant.htm

But bro, how can they figure out support for a ddependent that is USC? Cause it says on i864 list dependents not on this affidavit of support. I have a joint sponsor.

Thank you for help. I also learned that the Permanent Resident Card doesn't automatically come. There is a fee which must be paid in order to get Permanent Resident Card. Below is the link to pay the fee.

Sorry, I don't get what you are asking for regarding dependent. I believe your daughter is your dependent even if you haven't filed taxes. It shouldn't hurt you in the process. It's the fact
