Good Moral Character - knocked down offenses

Hallo all :)

I'm applying for citizenship and am stuck on the 'good moral character' section.

As I understand it, according to the instruction guide, if i have speeding tickets, i don't need to rate them as an offense or crime, but should still tick yes on questions 15 and 16 ('ever committed a crime/ever been arrested or cited).

Given that I was stopped twice for speeding, I intended to answer yes to 15 and 16. HOWEVER - one speeding ticket was knocked down to 'not wearing a seatbelt' and the other was knocked down to 'parking too far from the curb'. So in the explanation section, what do i say i was arrested/cited/charged or detained for? Speeding, or not wearing seatbelt / curb parking?

Thanks for your help - I find this section highly ambiguous.

I personally would just declare them as the offences for which you were arrested; if you meet the provisions (your punishment was either a fine of less than $500 and / endorsement points on your driver's licence, and drugs or alcohol were not involved) you don't have to provide documentation, as you stated.

I doubt you were arrested for those offenses, rather you were citied. Just keep this simple. They are looking for people that committed more serious crimes.

No drugs, no alcohol, and not a long way over the limit either. Now that i think of it, in fact, one wasn't a speeding ticket. i was spotted coming the wrong direction out of a car park. It had actually been temporarily blocked off, so i had to exit - but this is how the cops fulfill their quotas where i live. The other was at the beginning of a school zone - I was slowing down, but he clocked me exactly as i entered the zone. Seriously - this in over 10 years. Makes you wonder if they have nothing better to do with their time. The two incidents were 3 years ago and only 2 weeks apart when my town was running a police BLITZ. Small town - and police cars on every second corner. It was nutty.

Anyway - thanks so much for your help.
