To adopt a child is a complicated process. Unless you can complete an adoption before the child turns 16 you will not get a visa for the child. IF the childs mother is alive and you are related it will be difficult to get an adoption that is legal for immigration purposes even if you have more time. IF you are from a non Hague country you have to live with the child for two years before adopting which means this child will be too old.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I agree with the complication Nigeriaorbust stated. Unless you complete the adoption through the Hague process before the child turns 16, you have a slim to none chance for getting him to the US. Talk to an adoption agency, they might be able to help you.

Since the child is not in the US, the US has nothing to do with an adoption. If the child is in Morocco, then you need to follow Moroccan laws on adoption.

The US is aware of adopting family members to give them an immigration benefit. Under US laws, you would need to live as parent/child with your adopted son in his country for 2 years before you can file for an immigration visa. Are you willing to do this? Of course this is not the only requirement, there are others. This is the biggest one.

So, legal adoption is one issue. Getting a US immigration visa for an adopted child is another. Getting an adoption does not does guarantee an immigration visa.

If the financial aspect is your concern, you can just send him a monthly allowance until he's old enough to work and provide for himself.
