Hello all

Our NOA2 was approved on on Dec 4,:dance::dance: , and has already gone through the NVC. I understand that my finance will be receiving a checklist for the U.S. embassy in Bogota (Package 3), but what I don't quite understand and is package 4. The guide really doesn't address this. What is included in package 4? Will this be our interview date? Or will the interview date be inculded in package 3?

Thanks in advance for all your help

Typically, Packet #4 will include your Interview date and DS-156, DS-156k, DS-157, I-134 and FS-257a. It may also include instructions for the Medical exam. However, that may be a little different from Consulate to Consulate. In Brazil, Packet #3 included instructions for the Medical.

Have you checked out Club Colombia? There's a bunch of great info on the entire process there. If I'm not wrong, package 4 from Bogota contains your interview date, medical instructions and payment instructions. But your biggest hurdle is package 3. First of all, you DO NOT want to WAIT for the embassy to send it to your spouse. What most of us have done is as follows:

1. Recieve NOA2 approval

2. One week after your NOA2 approval, start calling the NVC everday or every other day to request a CASE Number and once you they give you a case number also ask when your case will be forwarded to Bogota. They will probably tell you in 2-6 weeks, but call back daily because it works much quicker than that (check out my timeline as well as that of a few other folks going through Bogota.

3. When you have confirmation that your case is forwarded to Bogota, go on this forum and look for a thread called "TRACKING DHL PACKAGE" from PeterinMiami, follow the direcctions and track your case.

4. In the mean time...and I mean RIGHT NOW, begin assembling the following: DS-2001, DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, your NOA2 approval letter, and your spouse's passport. You can either forward Spanish versions of the forms to her and have her fill them out and print them or you can fill them out in English for her and forward them to her by email for her to print and sign. You will also need to forward her the ORIGINAL NOA2 approval letter by overnight mail (fedex, dhl, usps).

5. Also have her to IMMEDIATELY request the police clearence letter from DAS...she'll know what that is if you don't. This can take up to a month to process if she doesn't already have one so act quickly. And you need to begin gathering the I-134 or I-864 affidative of support including required evidence. ( I personally prepared BOTH forms and had them both Notarized. Most of the required proof is the same for both, you need to see what applies to you.

6. Once you have confirmed that the embassy recieved your case, have your spouse fax (the fax number is on the embassy page) the contents of package 3 to the consulate and then send the hard copy by courier the same day (send the following: A cover letter, DS-2001, DS-230 part I, DS-156, a copy of your NOA2 approval letter).

7. On the following Wed, call the embassy to confirm reciept of your PK3 docs and they should be able to provide you with an interview date. I'll have to get back with you on this step because I'm still waiting on it myself, but I'll let you know how it goes next wednesday. This should generate PK4 which contains your interview date, but the operator will give you the date over the phone. Remember, you can only call between 2 and 4 pm on Wednesday. There are some entries in the Colombian Club thread with the phone number you will need.

If you need me to foward you the PK3 docs, please email me personally and GOOD LUCK!!!!

Also....VERY IMPORTANT...please add your timeline (like mine below) by going in your profile and updating your signature. This helps us all to help you.

Hello ...

No we haven't received our interview date yet. We had some issues getting pkg 3 filled out. We finally got that done and sent it back to the embassy today. I've been trying to get in contact with the embassy but the line is always busy.

If you can send me both those pkg's that would be a great help. Here is my email address michmendez@gmail.com.

Thank You!
