The application for the fiancé visa has been sent and after the interview (aproval etc) and such we are planning on getting married in the US, applying for AOS and AP right away, then going back to Canada to get Jim’s stuff. My fiancé s son is not coming to the states and will still be living at the house until he goes to school next September in Calgary. My house is pretty small and in truth we would like to wait and move thing after we find a bigger house and just move things one time. So my question would this be a problem waiting, going back to CA and then move stuff? It definitely would make life a lot easier.

I think you have lots of time to move your things to the USA - it doesn't have to happen right away. Shouldn't be a problem returning once you get AP.

I am actually considering this myself. it is becoming increasingly complicated to have him come up here and move me with a trailer, not to mention his house is small, so I might have to put most of my things in storage there anyhow. I am thinking I might just store my stuff here and come get it later. Of course, for me, it would be about 6 months later, which I am not crazy about. I'm really tired of living out of a suitcase (since July) and extending it further isn't a happy thought.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We'll be waiting a while. Craig is flying down, and will bring two or three suitcases. And then either have his family ship the rest down, or just wait to get it until the next time we go up for a visit or his parents come down.

I'm using ABF Trucking to shop my stuff- 3 months after I moved myself down. They have been super great and have a customs doc that was easy and when I signed it just faxed it to them....all I needed was someone to load it up at the Canadian end. You can track the shipment online. Mines due this Friday. Good luck I think it comes down to the crossing at the border and having the paper work in order. Melissa

Joel shipped some of his things a bit here and there. Then when he made the big move he had already boxed up his remaining things and his mom shipped it here by UPS. When they flew down for the wedding, they brought his things that wouldn't ship well, like his electric guitar and such.

*SIGH* Man oh man does my baby play the guitar sooooo good... :luv:

One other consideration - once your fiance becomes your spouse, he will not be allowed to leave the US and return until he receives either his Green Card or an Advance Parole. This may be as little as a few months or it can be a longer wait. Whatever your plans are be sure to include this in your considerations. It won't be a simple matter of going back to Canada after your marriage to bring the belongings back - you will need to have the proper immigration documentation for Jim in place as well as the customs forms for his belongings.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
