Does anyone know if Boston issues birth certificates in the "long/full version?"

We only submitted the short version from the City Clerk/Registrar. Has anyone from Boston had a problem with submitting the "short" version?

I was born in Massachusetts and used the version I got from the City Clerk's office. It was fine.

You wouldn't happen to remember if that was the long version (complete with parents details, ie.e. address, etc.) or just the short one (only with the parents' names) would you?

Is the "short" version an "Abstract of Birth" rather than an actual birth certificate?

I know my wife couldn't get a passport as she only had the "Abstract", rather than a "certified copy" (Oh no not this again) of the birth cerficate or the actual birth certificate (lost by her mother years ago).

Don't know if USCIS cares.

My hubby was born in MA, and he only had a tiny green piece of paper with his name and date of birth. He told me it was his Birth Certificate, the only one he had, and he couldn't get a passport with it (he never needed a passport anyways). Shortly before we got married, we ordered a copy of his normal BC from MA office of vital stats (or whatever it's called). They sent us something that looks like a photocopy from a hospital book with loads if info - like eye color, weight, the fact that the baby was born alive etc. It was on a fancy purple piece of paper with a raised seal I figure, it's the long version of the BC It was good for USCIS, I hope it'll be good when we apply for hubby's passport

We had to get my husband a BC, it has his name, place of birth, date of birth, mothers name (maiden), fathers name and when the birth was registered...

This is what we got when we called into city hall and went to the births,deaths and marriages office.

If you got it from the city/town hall it should be fine. I believe that most towns issue certificates with the parent's name on it.

My husband's birth certificate from the town of Winchester (MA), didn't have address information on it and we were fine using it with our I-130.

The people that have issues with long/short birth certificate are usually the beneficiaries.

My Ontario (Can) BC did not have my parent's names on it, so I had to order a long form birth certificate that contains more information.

My Husband got his birth certificate from the town Hall of Weymouth Mass, and that had all the information on it eg: parents names etc

Thanks so much for everyone who replied. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

Anyway, my husband's birth certificate is a tiny green piece of paper with a raised stamp. On the very top it says "Certified Copy of Birth Record" and then it conitnues with name of parents and date of birth. No other details like weight and stuff. I sure hope it'll be enough.
