Our interview is January 25th. I'd like to show my income information for 2006 in the interview, considering it was the first full-year I worked at a full-time job. Would showing my W2s from that year be enough evidence to show that, since I wouldn't be able to get tax transcripts yet?

If you have filed a Tax return before, you can get a transcript of that year. Just be sure to include copies of all W-2s for that year if you had more than 1 job. The I-134 requires that you show that you can meet the Poverty guidelines. If your 2005 tax return and W-2s show that, then you don't need anything else (bank statements, IRAs, home appraisals, etc.). My income meets the guidelines and the Consulate in Brazil told me to provide 2005 tax return and W-2. I am not a business, just a working stiff!

Another note, sometimes, companies give the W-2 late in January. So you may not have it before the Interview date.

Yeah, I have transcripts and W-2s for all my previous years, I just wondered if the !W-2 would be sufficient for 2006.

You can take the 2006 W2 as additional support. But I'd provide a completed 2005 return with W2 copies to meet their needs. Before you go to the Interview, send the Consulate an email and include your salary. Ask them what you should provide. Then take that and your other evidence just in case!

Does the website say tax returns are required at all?

It mentions it in the checklist for self-employed, but my reasoning for including them is that I am at a new job, and want to prove the stability of my income for the past three years instead of just showing that I've been making xx amount for 2 months.

Stability of your income for the last 3 years is not a requirement.

Cass, you are an upwardly mobile young woman.

You've been going to college and working. You've finally gotten a good job. You're situation is admirable and not uncommon.

A letter of attachment to your I-134 along with pay stubs and employment letter should be adequate at the Canadian consulate. Past years tax returns, if you wish to include them, helps verify your story.

Thank you. :) This is my plan.

My concern about the stability of my income comes from some other musings of people getting co-sponsors due to the short amount of time they've been employed.

I understand.

But you are processing through the Canadian consulate. I don't think they will have trouble understanding that your situation is not at all unique. In fact it is quite positive. Many young people right out of school are under-employed or unemployed all together.

Thank you. :) This is my plan.

My concern about the stability of my income comes from some other musings of people getting co-sponsors due to the short amount of time they've been employed.
