A Republican precinct chairman in North Carolina has resigned one day after an interview he gave to "The Daily Show" aired.

Don Yelton spoke with the Comedy Central show's Aasif Mandvi in a discussion that aired Wednesday, in which he defended his state's voter ID law and referred to "lazy blacks that wants the government to give them everything." He said the law was not racist, but said that he's "been called a bigot before."

Anyone who hates an entire demographic for the actions of a few is an idiot and a racist. I've yet to find an intelligent racist.

Depends on how you define "intelligent". Dr. James Watson was at one point a brilliant scientist and contributed a lot to the field of genetics, especially with his work on the Human Genome Project. He was known by colleagues, however, for being an unrepentant a__hole. Like a lot of scientists. Then at some point a few years back he broke down into senility and started rambling about how black and brown people are genetically inferior. I suspect he was a racist all along but societal mores kept his trap shut until the synapses stopped firing in his brain. After all, his interactions with minorities in the field of science at the time was quite minimal. Minority representation in science is still, unfortunately, minimal. For a guy with tunnel vision this is enough to conclude that blacks are not as smart as whites, because they are not often working in the more "intellectual" fields. Not only was he outing himself as a racist, but he stopped being able to analyze data and science entirely. The data of course did not reflect the conclusions he made from it. The difference among the races (color or ethnicity alone) is only skin deep. Societal constructs make the divisions, and historically, have always made the divisions.

In any case, one can't really compare this degenerate politician with a world famous scientist. But they both suffer from the same delusion, that their small little worlds and small little experiences are representative of the world, and the human experience, at large.

I love how everyone applauded SCOTUS for repealing DOMA, yet that was the only bone they threw average citizens. Most of the rest of their decisions in recent years have been to give corporations more freedom and curtain the rights of people.

People who see the right lane closed in 2 miles,sign, then ride it to the very end and almost cause an accident trying to cut back in. That should be a felony.

Also people who leave their buggies in the middle of a parking lot when the return is 20 feet away

####### holes that talk down to and are rude to service industry workers

People that break in lane

People that drive a nice car and take up two spots, unless they park in no mans land. They beg to be keyed

and i do love certain things about where i live - mainly the scenery. i live in horse country, it's beautiful. my commute to work is a drive through open fields with grazing sheep, alpacas. also there's tons of history and it turns out my ancestors lived on the other side of the valley during the civil war. i live right next to the mountains, three minute drive to the shenandoah river, half hour to skyline drive. i live in a county that has one mcdonalds, a sheetz and a 7-11 - nothing else is permitted. but there's a dark side to an area like this, culturally stagnant and lots of old attitudes and prejudices that are so prominent in daily life that i find myself immune (in that, i don't speak up - out of laziness/apathy - as often as i should). there's something sinister in the mix between the old wealth, the new money and forever poor. i've lived in this valley since i was in fourth grade. i like country living, but it's something i'd rather come back to when i'm older. i need a change of pace.

Apparently you've never heard of William Shockley, inventor of the transitor, arguably a key creator of the modern computer age, who was a racist and believed blacks were genetically inferior to whites. I'm gonna assume you'll agree claiming that one race is genetically inferior to another racist and that, if you look at his achievements as a physicist, that Shockley was brilliant. Looks like you've got some homework to do.
