When we started this journey, we fully expected to wait at a minimum of four months before we even heard anything regarding our K1 application. TWO months later, our application is sitting in Naples and awaiting an interview! It looks as if our wish for a Christmas reunion may indeed be coming true!

That is GREAT news!

I'll be following your timeline and progress as we're also very close in having our petition sent to the NVC and then to the Consulate in Naples for interview scheduling!

Best of luck and congratulations!

We're still waiting on her birth certificate to arrive then she can go ahead and file the DS-160 online. They really seem to be wanting to streamline the process. The only thing I am a bit confused (and when I emailed Naples for advice the referred me back to the instructions) is if I am able to pay her visa fee after she is done filing. I guess we'll see!

Hey Geoff&Giulia.

What is taking so long RE the birth certificate? I remember getting mine (plurilingual) in one morning.

As for your question, packet 3 states that the $240 K1 visa fee is paid online at https://usvisa-info.com/ after you send the applicant's statement and an interview appointment has been scheduled for you.

Her birth certificate was sitting at her post office for a month. Some kind soul found it and personally delivered it to her today. *Happy relieved sigh*

We filled out DS-160 online (make sure you set NAPLES as your consulate) and emailed/faxed the applicants statement (at the bottom of the fiancé instruction in packet 3) They also told me we could pay the consular fee at the time of interview. I am hoping we can still pay online and I'll let you know how that goes.

All that remains now is a date for an appointment; hopefully before the holidays hit!

Geoff and Giulia,

No set date for the interview yet?

Our package also just made it to Naples today, and our CEAC changed from "in transit" to "ready".

Will the Consulate get in touch with us, or should I send them an email stating that our CEAC status changed to ready and that I am willing and ready to email them the Applicant's Statement?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

How do you get a plurilingual birth certificate? Also any information regarding the embassy in Italy would be helpful!

We're still waiting for NOA2 but we're hoping for a positive outcome and would like to prepare for the medical and interview (as in know things in advance if possible).

You simply ask for it when you go to the "Comune".

It's an "Estratto di Nascita, modello Convenzione di Parigi del 27 Settembre 1956".

That's what I asked for, that's what I got! ;-)

Once you get NOA2, wait for your petition to be shipped (you will receive another USCIS status update). Once it's been shipped, wait 2 weeks, and then call either NVC or DoS (I called DoS and only had to wait on hold 3 minutes, you can find the numbers all over the place on VJ), and ask for your NPL case number.

Once you have that, you can track it on the CEAC website (read about it in other threads). It'll have three updates, first "At NVC", second "In Transit" (which means your petition has been shipped to the Consulate in Naples), third "Ready" which means your file is in Naples.

I'm at this stage now.

Best of luck!
