Hi guys,

Okay so here is my story... I am a south african and my girlfriend is from the US. We want to move to the USA because she missed her family. She is on a life partner permit here in South Africa for the next 2 years. We have been in a relationship for almost 2 years. I am also a german citizen.

Will the life partner permit be okay to file as a DCF? Okay I know i said she is my girlfriend but we do have plans to get married. We are considering this option as it is the "cheapest" and "quickest" compared to the other ones.

Can you please advise?

She will need to proof legal residence in ZA to use DCF. This will depend on USCIS Joburg if that is enough. Be prepared to show more (bank account, lease agreement etc). DCF is cheapest and quickest. You can make an Infopass appointment and file the I-130 with a USCIS officer. This way you can clear any questions and avoid mistakes in the forms. Friends of ours completed their DCF this way in just 6 weeks.

German citizenship won't make difference, unless you are planning on moving to Frankfurt and filing DCF there.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...
