Some packet 3 confusion in Sydney

Hi all.

I received packet 3 today :D

I have all the documentation required with the exception of my medical and the I-134 that my fiance has. I'm flying over there next week and will pick it up while I'm there.

I have a few, potentially, dumb questions and I hope someone in Sydney who has been through this recently can help. I'm also e-mailing the embassy but they take sooooooo long to respond to e-mails that I'm looking for help anywhere I can find it.

So...here goes. Again, I apologise if this is basic but I've spent so much time reading conflicting information that I can't see the forest for the trees!

In the word document that I received (see attachment) it has a section that says 'Forms required' it lists 3 forms:

- DS-160

- I-134

- DSL-1076

Where I'm getting confused is that when I go to the DSL-1076 form it says the first thing I need to do is return immediately to the office form DS-230I.

Why isn't DS-230I mentioned in the first list in the packet 3 document?

So, am I supposed to return DS-230I by itself to the embassy and then compile the rest of my information and then forward that to the embassy separately? Or do I just wait and send every single form and document together?

This also leads me to my next question.

In Sydney the medical is sent straight to the embassy, how are we supposed to mark this off on the DS-1076 checklist? Am I supposed to mark it as N/A because it's not applicable to the form as the embassy will already have it? Can anyone who lives in Sydney and did their medical here please let me know how they handled this section.

I hope this makes sense because I'm a bit lost.

Cheers

James

Hi there,

For your first question, you can do either. If you have everything ready right now, go ahead and send everything, including the DS-2301. If you don't, send the DS-2301 now and then send the package with everything else later. If you do the latter, send another copy of the DS-2301 just in case they don't match up your package with the first copy.

For the medical, I would just note on the checklist that the medical is being sent direct to the consulate. Don't worry, they deal with this all the time.

Will they accept a medical appointment confirmation slip and email to verify I have an appointment made for the near future so I can send packet 3 back now?

You could do that. Honestly, Sydney is one of the most easy-going of all the US consulates. They see incomplete packet 3's all the time, and not just because the medical was sent directly to the consulate. Some people forget documents in Packet 3 and are simply told to bring them on the day of the interview. Some people do their medicals the day of the interview because they live far from the city. If you are really concerned, you could email the consulate with your SYD case number and let them know and see what they say.
